Hi Guys and Gals, I have to write a letter to my employee to request a six weeks absence of leave in order to get married in philippines. I work in a supermarket and the employee handbook states im entitled to 12 weeks unpaid leave once every 3 years but i think 6 weeks is enough to do what i want to do. I've been trying to work out how im going to write the letter because i want it to be well written and able put my case across why I need such a long time of absence..Im getting married in Feb 2016 , so im giving them over a year's notice of my intention..
I haven't done a great deal of research on marrying in the philippines, I know i have to apply for marriage licence which may take 10 days and then we plan to marry in church..I just want some good solid reasons of why i need 6 weeks off..any advice will be appreciated

    hi charlie--and welcome.

why not just say you need to live there before the wedding--quite normal---and want a honeymoon after---also normal. see what they say. please also check out the earnings rules if you plan to sponsor your spouse to join you here.

    No. Civil wedding only.

Yep. I think Church requirements are a little more comprehensive than civil so maybe that's why Charlie is giving himself more time.though 6 weeks should be ample.

I got married in a church, could have done the whole process in a month. But I think you are wise to go for 6 weeks. You don't want to fly home the day after you get married do you!
