Well it looks like as if they will be undergoing scanning on arrival. :erm:

But the last sentence on the article, gives the game away...

Dom, I know you know a good bit about balikbayan boxes, I have never sent one but I am thinking of sending educational books over and they will weigh quite a lot any indications of prices and weights for boxes?

    Would books attract import tax?

The value in UK terms will be less than 50 quid but the weight could be 30 or 40 kilo.

Balikbayan boxes don't go by weight, but by size.
So in reality it could weigh 150 Kgs and be ok.

You problem, seen that it is books, would be to find what ever else to stuff in it to make up the spare space.............;)

These books would be of considerable size as well, we are talking 34 very large hard back books, what kind of dimensions are these balikbayan boxes usually available in Dom?

I have plenty of other stuff I would be happy to send as well :)

A standard size box would be around 10 cubic feet average. Cost is around £100 (little more for Mindanao)
The delivery time is around 4-5 weeks from time of sailing. No such thing as full speed ahead these days of cost down.
