I did mention that in my post - the problem being that incapacity can prevent leaving the country each year for 'visa' renewal.

Yes, he has police contacts! Maybe there will be divorce one day in the Philippines, but that bill is currently being challenged.

Spot on again, Markam! I assumed that CRB did all criminal checks but it seems, for emigration at least, such checks are done by ACPO Criminal Records Office (ACRO)

    The cost is £45 for a ten-day turnaround or £80 for a two-day turnaround.

There is now but they call it annulment.

Annulment in the catholic church is when the marriage was ‘void ab initio’.

That is, that no marriage actually took place (Extreme example: the priest was an imposter).

Although the conditions for annulment in the church also apply in the civil court, valid marriages, which would never be annulled by the church, also get 'annulled' i.e. divorce.

The problem with annulment is it requires the consent of both parties and usually involves one party demonstrating they did not have the psychological capacity to enter into a marriage contract.

Let's hope that any new divorce law brings in other grounds to end a marriage, so that the 'fudge' of psychological incapacity is confined to the history books. It would also need to be a process that does not require the consent of both parties to end the marriage.

You can move there get the initial visa give them an address, then move and live a quiet life, you might just get away with that however you would always be on tenterhooks and that would not be fun. Saying that I have never once in about 500 days of living there over the last nine years been challenged to show ID, it all depends where you go when you go and what you do, most people would probably be fine most of the time even off grid.

Why have you almost completely copied my post #29 but changed the first couple of words?

I could understand a quote even without a reply, but why rip off the post completely and in the same thread less than 20 posts later, are you a robot?

So if I go there on the 30days visa and ask for a ten day extra stay at the airport, that would be alright, and will it cost much much more then if I just have the 56days visa in the U.K

no there isnt a 30 day visa ,u get to stay for 30 days without visa and then extend for 29 days when there ,59 day visa from uk is cheaper than extension

That all depends on where you live and what your circumstances are, firstly you are right the 30 days is a waiver not a visa, but consider those that cannot provide all the documentary requirements at the London Embassy and who may not live anywhere near London, those people can simply turn up in Manila and get an extension, no questions asked unless they look really really dodgy.

Not everyone can meet the Philippine visa requirements, yes they are not that onerous, however I don't really want to provide x-months of bank statements and the various other things they require, just turn up and ask, it is easier and if you don't wan't your passport to be in transit in the postal system then it will be much much cheaper if you live anywhere outside London.

Yes should have called a waiver, silly me...! I live up in the valleys of South Wales so going into London twice (1 to get visa 2 for the flight) would be a pain to me so like you say, I'll think I'll just go and get it in Phil, thanks Oss.
