"All documents submitted by customers applying for standard Tier 1, 2, 4 and 5 are scanned at the Visa Application Centre and sent electronically to UKVI."

It appears they have introduced a barcode scanning system to submit with your documents! New to me but not using this system they say you may encounter delays.

i think....the applicant has to decide if they want to send all documents to sheffield...or use the scanning service at VFS. you cant split it.

Not really studied the notes closely but to me it looks like they are giving us what we the forum members have been talking about for ages.
    Definitive list of contents
    Order to put them in
And how to spectate the categories

Add a scan divide for the eco bods to scan and record.

    its been available for months.

prob is--who wants to now send all the sponsorship bumf over to the philis to be scanned ( at extra cost! ) at VFS. the whole idea was to overcome all that--all sponsorship stuff straight to sheffield--the applicant prints off a signs vaf4--takes it and passport to vfs --by appointment.

but vfs wont accept any other documents--TB cert--birth cert etc---no siree--has to be sent to sheffield.

    total cock up.

"total cock up." - sums it up perfectly @bigmac...

The 'sensible' thing for UKVI/VFS to have done (but we know bureaucracy doesn't 'do' sensible!) would be to offer the Applicant a scanning service for THEIR documents in the Philippines, which could then be sent to Sheffield, bearing in mind every application has a unique reference number, to be combined with the Sponsor's documents which can be sent direct to Sheffield from within the UK. That way, the Applicant doesn't risk losing any important, original documents by having to ship them overseas.

Basically, the scanning option WAS 'all or nothing'! Am I right?

As far as I can make out, the only point of the Applicant going, in person, to VFS in the Philippines is so that VFS can scan their passport and a 'physical' signed copy of the online VAF4 (printed from the Visa4uk website) and send them to Sheffield, thus meaning the Applicant's passport doesn't physically leave the Philippines - the Sponsor prints a copy of the VAF4A form and includes it with their evidence submitted to Sheffield.

    Regarding the Barcode 'separators'...

This document - https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/philippines/pdf/Intro-Scan-Process.pdf - appears to include 'Separators' for ALL Visa types...

For a Fiance(e) Visa I think the Applicant only needs the following separators. Can anyone confirm this please ???

Sponsor Evidence - such as cover letter and photocopy of Passport (photo/details page) (Page 5 of PDF)
Consent Letters (if Applicant or Sponsor under 18)/Proof of Relationship - cards, gifts, online correspondence, etc (Page 6)
    TB Certificate (Page 8)
Additional documents (Page 9) - for IELTS certificate, Applicant's cover letter - what else?
Appendix II (Page 10) - Is this the VAF4A, Appendix 2 ??? If so, do both Applicant and Sponsor include this document in their evidence ???

Optional Separator pages for the Applicant to include in a Fiance(e) Visa application -

Financial Evidence - e.g. Bank statements/receipts for financial support from the Sponsor (Page 3 of PDF) *

    * In our case, my Fiancee (the Applicant) hasn't had regular work recently. Is it worth sending 3 to 6 months of Bank statements showing her income when she was last employed? A cover letter could be added to explain her current period of unemployment.
She normally does contract work (2 to 3 years each) outside the Philippines.

    And finally...

Should the Sponsor use Barcode separators for their evidence as well, or is it only for the Applicant's evidence, coming from the Philippines ???

For a fiancée visa...the applicants work history has no relevance. No need for any of her bank statements. It's the sponsors financial details that's crucial.

While since I looked at this, but when I did, I read it as you need to attach "YOUR" bar code to each mini parcel of documents you are submitting... so you probably need to photocopy the bar code from "YOUR" application and make sure it appears with each chunk of documents - I.E Don't use someone else's bar code :D

No doubt someone will correct me if I've got it wrong.

Not suggesting you're wrong, John...but I understood the barcode separator was for scanned applications in the applicants home country...not the sponsors bundle in the UK. However..I could be totally wrong. We applied for my wife's son's settlement visa last November...and didn't use the separators. Time will tell.

Bloody predictive text...taken twice as long to correct this.

We had to use bar code separators when we submitted our tourist visa application in July . Basically it separates documents into separate categories , ie financial details , work details , sponsors letter , utility bills , any other dicuments .

    Cheers @bigmac...

So it would be sufficient for me to send Bank statements/receipts showing payments made to support my Fiancée - not necessary for her to send Bank statements/receipts showing the money she has received from me???

you can if you want to prove your ongoing devotion...but write a letter to UKVI explain why its included---showing your support payments to her----just in case some jobsworth mistakes her bank statements for yours.

how long since you have seen each other ?

    OK thanks @bigmac.

Fortunately I'm exempt from the 'Earnings Threshold', due to a lifetime disability, so don't have to show earnings - just letters confirming my benefits. I will explain to UKVI in a letter why I have sent various of my Bank statements - to show payments made to my Fiancee, since she has not been working. To avoid confusing the monkeys at UKVI I think I will advise my Fiancee not to send any of her Bank statements...

I was there twice in 2017 - 2 weeks in January and, most recently, 3 weeks in November.

Point taken - but I doubt the 'jobsworths' @bigmac was referring to have time to be reading this Forum - If they do, something's wrong!
