Billy Connolly ends comedy shows early after heckles

Comedian Billy Connolly has been criticised for ending two stand-up shows in a week early, due to hecklers.

Fans were left disappointed in Blackpool last weekend after the comic walked off stage 20 minutes early after verbal abuse from audience members.

A few days before, he also cut short a gig in Scarborough.

A spokeswoman for Connolly declined to comment on the incidents but said the comic's tour would continue in Llandudno, Wales, on Friday.

Fans reported the 69-year-old Scot walked out of the Blackpool gig after he was interrupted during one of his jokes.

Just like me The Big Yin must be getting to be a grumpy-old-man. Dealing with hecklers was his real forte when he was younger.

I was never a big fan of his stand-up routines, but did enjoy quite a lot of his other stuff.

I saw him about 19-20 years ago in Brum at the ICC. Really really funny. We where seated in the front row of the balcony and I was scared of falling off because of laughing so much!! I must say though that I did go off him a few years later as he just seemed to get lazy and run out the same old material over and over. I've seen him bring out stuff that I know to be over 25 years old, prehaps he hped no-one will notice but he forgets about vhs and now dvds!

I only like his travelogues documentaries...

I rather watch stand up comedy by Richard Pryor or Robin Williams than being bored by Connolly and listening to how he was abused by his father.

You would think a seasoned comedian like Billy Connolly would know how to handle hecklers..

He turned up for the 20th anniversary of our folk club back round about 1983, one of the the ones he started out in himself back in the days before the Humblebums, he was cripplingly funny as a live act in those days.

I still have photos somewhere from that night but I was really scared about taking any as he had such a reputation for hating photographers in those days :)

And yes he was brilliant at handling hecklers, I suspect he's just getting to the "what's the fecking point" stage of his life.
