As a grumpy old man I really dislike this idea of Boeing to install larger overhead bins on their planes, it really niggles me seeing passengers carrying heavy luggage onto a plane that should be stowed in the hold of the plane. It really irks me me when I have to go searching up and down the aisle to try and find space for my laptop case because the bin allocated to my seat has been taken by a huge case and bags. They should be making the bins smaller not bigger! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-32311556
Its not what I wanted to hear Graham, you are obviously one these people who takes everything but the kitchen sink aboard the aircraft making me walk up and down the aisle aimlessly
Hardly. I went to The Philippines for 2 weeks with just a couple of changes of clothes in my hand luggage and bought washing powder when I got there! That'll do me!
I'm pleased to hear it, which reminds me, I still have a full wardrobe in the Philippines what the missus has left behind, I used to just take myself and the laptop to the Philippines having left lots and lots of clothes there for me to wear on my visits.
I don't know about bigger bins. What is needed is a bit more common sense from those who currently take on too much hand baggage. Nothing worse than being blocked in the aisle after landing, unable to exit the flight, as the family two rows in front slowly unloads their multiple carry-ons from the overhead bin.
I think that all the airlines should enforce the size of carry on baggage policy that they all have and never enforce. On checking in you always see those frames that your carry on baggage should fit into but none of the airlines bother to use it. It amazes me what people take onto an aircraft.
Surely if they make the bins bigger then they need to make the aisles bigger, idiots will be bringing full sized suitcases on
There has to be some reason why Boeing seem keen on the idea, finance has to be involved somewhere, that's for sure.
On our last Cathay Pacific jaunt we knew we were over limit and the lady give us a Cathay pacific bag and said to fill that. We went to the side and offloaded about 2-3 kilos of Chocolate and duly put it in the bag as requested. I was going to go back to the same lady but she was busy so went instead to her colleague who was managing the queue. I enquired where should I throw away the Chocolate. Oh no she exclaimed just take it on with you. We just need to ensure that the bags don't exceed 7kgs singly. Marvelous. We came back with 4 carry on bags between the 3 of us. Two of which were 9kgs
If all the baggage is up-top in the overhead bins, rather than down below in the hold. Surely the top heavy plane is in danger of tipping over and flying upside down.
