Hello, I will be flying on Saturday, 29th May. I booked an Emirates Airline ticket through Expedia using my aunt's credit card. Am I correct that I will not be asked to present the credit card used at the airport since it's booked with a travel agency? (I have the credit card clear copy and aunt's ID on hand) just in case. If I book directly with Emirates website, it was mentioned that the credit card owner must be part of the travelling party.
Hi PatVen, I have never heard of a credit card being produced at an airport. Best to contact Emirates and get clarification. You have a week for them to send you an email to clear it up.
Hi @PatVen I think some airlines have introduced it as a security measure and in some countries the card holder has to be a traveller in the part and in other countries not, I wasnt sure so looked it up here is a link to help you http://www.emirates.com/english/help/faq/247540/what-are-the-online-payment-rules
This was a requirement for some airlines at one time, I would doubt very much that Emirates would do this though.
I've checked this before thus it took time for me to decide. But I have read in some posts that it is best to book with Orbitz, Travelocity or Expedia.
If auntie not travelling with you, then i think you need a copy of the card and photo id of auntie and her saying she paying for you.
Look at it this way how would airlines enforce this as a lot of company business travellers have their tickets booked for them by using company credit cards.
Philippines was always a country were CC confirmation was required. When asawa flew to the UK on her own (booked with my CC) I had to physically present the card to them prior to asawas departure. This meant going the Etihad desk at MAN airport and showing it. They then copied it and also flagged her ticket as not having to present CC upon check-in. I also scanned the card and emailed it asawa along with a signed letter from myself confirming I was the CC holder. FYI The flight was booked directly with Etihad
Most business travellers usually have their own company credit card, my company provided me with one up till last year, I had to book my own travel using that card most of the time. Certainly in some large companies bookings are managed by a personal secretary and might be paid from a accompany account, but this issue does not apply to westerners on a return ticket, it applies to natives of certain countries who are leaving on a ticket purchased on a card. I had to pay for Ana to travel from Seoul in Korea to the Manila a few years ago and Cebu Pacific do not have this requirement but I did have to check as there is no way I am scanning both sides of a card and emailing it to an anonymous person at an airline check-in counter on the other side of the planet.
They usually require a photocopy of both sides of the card, getting a letter is a good idea, make sure she includes her full name and address in the letter. When you do travel, do not offer these documents to the check-in staff unless they actually ask for them, never give more information than is actually asked for.
Thank you for all the insights you've provided. I will bring a copy of her credit card and ID and a letter. I am planning of bringing the physical credit card and return it after checking in..
Thank you for your insights. Yes giving these information is crucial especially the security code at the back of the card.
I emailed Expedia to clear my doubts and I was advised to contact Emirates Airlines. I spoke to Emirates customer service representative earlier and I was informed that there is no need to present the credit card at the airport if the ticket is bought through a travel agency.
Patven, can i ask, when you went for your flight with emirates, did they ask you for any proof of credit card,as i am thinking of using them for my wife flight.
