Note: Dual British Citizen national Filipinos are not entitled to diplomatic help from the British government when in your home country of the Philippines. Sorry.. I couldnt find the speech mark/quote tab. Excuse me? A British citizen is not really a Brit citizen if he holds Dual nationality and as such will not be given assistance!! So they will give me assistance and shun my British wife and kids even if some of them were born in the U.K? The "British embassy" cannot even renew a British passport these days.. Tell me then, what is it that they do to assist British citizens abroad apart from accept visa fee`s from foreign citizens? To think I used to be very proud of being a Brit..Long,long ago.
Very good points Bootsonground, I personally thought they would have the same rights to assistance from the British Embassy, obviously not
In my opinion, austerity measures in the U.K will target British expatriates abroad more and more because they see us as an easy target for cost cutting measures. These measures will have little impact for them at home with voters because the British voters are unlikely too have a clue about what has transpired to British people and their rights abroad.. Or much less..Even care.
I think that the British Governments fails to see that most British ex-pats are actually very good Ambassadors for the country whilst working or living overseas. In my experience overseas I have seen that most ex-pats are skilled or professional and are generally treated with respect by their host country, the British Government should appreciate that fact more.
Exactly! But they will attempt to flog you a single-use "emergency Passport" for rather a lot of money. Any service they provide - and there aren't many these days - has to be paid for and usually in advance.
On a slightly different angle. Would a holiday insurance company provide cover for a national to the country they were "visiting"? For example, the wife visits the Philippines and although she is technically resident in the UK, she of course is a Philippine national (until FLR/ILR/Citizenship occurs). Would an insurance company cover her for that or would they also see her as technically being at "home" although she doesn't technically live there. They will of course try to get out of any liability if something were to happen and I think they'd wash their hands of it. Any advice anyone?
Hi @one world, it's me again. I tried to book an appointment online through the link you've provided and it redirected me to the appointment booking page. I have selected the time and date and when I was finally ready, I clicked "book appointment" but it didn't redirect me to another page wherein you're supposed to see a "Thank you. Your appointment details are sent to your email." or whatever message they're supposed to give you. I wanted to book an appointment for the 22nd of April, or do you think it's too soon for me to book which may have caused the error? Please can anyone shed some light on this matter? I am feeling a bit worried considering that it is the only way you can book an appointment (or is there any other option you guys can suggest?). I don't want to waste time and end up not being able to secure that date for an appointment just because it is already unavailable. It's the only free time we've got. Me and my Brit fiance are currently in the UK and we will be arriving in the Philippines on the 21st of April. Our wedding is on the 7th of May, therefore, we need his affirmation notarized as soon as we can which is on the 22nd so we can go home to Mindanao on the same day. Thank you so much in advance!
Last August I booked my Affirmation appointment maybe a couple of weeks before my date of arrival in the Phils. I was then given (online) the time and date I'd asked for. The guy doing the Affirmations (at a counter in front of those waiting) wasn't exactly rushed off his feet, and there were only about three people waiting... so I wouldn't worry too much. Takes about 5 minutes if you have the correct docs and fee.
It looks like plenty of availability try again here:- https://www.consular-appointments.s...oaths-affirmations-and-affidavits/slot_picker See this also:- Notarial and documentary services guide for the Philippines https://www.gov.uk/guidance/notarial-and-documentary-services-guide-for-the-philippines

Thanks a lot @graham59. That is reassuring. Thanks too @Micawber, I used the link you gave me and I was finally able to book the appointment, thank goodness! You guys are of great help!
Hi again guys! Is it fine if my British partner would go to the embassy alone to get the CNI? I'm afraid I won't be able to accompany him as I will need to take some requirements of my own which I won't have the time to secure by then.
If you mean for the Affirmation/Affidavit.... yes, I did. (Last September). My partner was up in Pangasinan at the time, having just given birth.
Oh good! Thanks @graham59, that's a relief! May I ask what documents you took with you? I already have a list of the requirements but I just wanted to ask based on your experience.
