Hi Everyone, My Filipino Fiancee arrived in the UK Wednesday 17th Feb.. We haven't, yet, received a letter from the Home Office giving instructions regarding the BRP. When can we expect a communication, knowing that a BRP is required within 10 days of UK entry? Many thanks.
Bigmac is right, you get the BRP when you apply for the first FLR after you are married, you're not onto the five year settlement route until the first FLR.
Hi Timmers, Thank you for your response, but the GOV.UK website states that you must have a BRP if you want to: apply to come to the UK apply to extent your visit or settle in the UK transfer your visa to a new passport apply for certain Home Office travel documents also, You don't have to apply for a BRP. You'll get one automatically as part of your visa or immigration application. Please comment accordingly.
You will not get the BRP until you apply for the first leave to remain after you are married @Methersgate hopefully will confirm this, his loved one arrived not long ago on a Fiancée visa. If you had married your loved one and then brought her to the UK then she would have to apply for the BRP within two weeks of arriving in the UK. As I mentioned previously you do not begin the five year settlement route until you are married and apply for the FLR. You could be getting mixed up with other visa types where you do have to obtain the BRP on entry to the UK. Don't worry about it, all is well
It's true, the gov website does say you need a brp if you want to apply to come to the uk. I'm not sure why it would say that. As with others, we never got a brp until applying for flr.
Hi Terence, As others indicate, your Fiancee is not eligible for a BRP as her visa has an expiry within 6 months Here's the Home Office guidance and general information on BRP's:- https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...ent_data/file/492617/OA_BRP_Leaflet__OLF_.pdf This extract from page 5 will help put any concerns you have to rest:-
Hi Micawber, Page 5 read and understood, thank you. Will my Fiancee's passport suffice for registration at a doctor's surgery to obtain an NHS number, and also to create a bank account, or am I being too hasty?. Regards.
Registration at GP's surgery can be unpredictable, but shouldn't be a major issue. Getting a bank account may prove tricky until she has FLR(M)
when we registered at the docs, we just took original passport, BRP card and copies of both then filled out the forms they handed us. wouldn't worry about this bit, the most straightforward part of the lot! (you just have to wait a little while for the "here is your NHS number" letter to show up).
