Not my kind of thing to bring up this sort of subject but something about it bothers me, I think it is the basic lack of real thought behind it.

There is a great deal of evidence to show that people who grow up with an expectation of short life and limited opportunities, breed early. This is science, real research into real communities, real lifespans and so on.

The implication is that strategies to cope with the realities that face families while their children are growing up are affecting the kids (this is all past tense historic data) the kids grow up with environmental pressures that say, reproduce young, that way your genes get into the next generation.

This leads to big families (better chance that more survive) parents often die young thus reinforcing the idea that you gotta live fast die young.

Remember that Darwin explained evolution in terms of environmental conditions and selection pressures.

Also think about the fact that there is huge evidence to show that evolution does not have to be a half a million year thing, there is loads of proof of evolution in the space of a few generations, major changes in evolutionary direction in the space of a few decades, in loads of species and probably us as well.

The point I am making is that, while yes, too many kids are starting families too young, they do have selective pressures for doing so and the result of those pressures is that we are breeding an underclass of a type we have not really seen before, these kids will be specialised for the conditions they find themselves living in, the modern political class structure they are living in.

Now it may well be the case, that changes in the real world will cause these families real problems, but the whole point of the breeding numbers game, is to beat the opposition by force of numbers :erm:
