Cancelling COS from one employer and filing from another

    Hi forum members,
I really need your help. Please advise.

I am talking to two employers(A and B). Cleared interview rounds with A and have a offer in hand and the interviews are in process with B which may take around a month time to complete all the rounds of the interview.

Employer B is better than employer A in terms of job security and salary. Employer A is saying he will file for the COS immediately and he don't want to delay as the requirement is urgent. I don't want to miss the opportunity with Employer A as I am not sure if I will get the offer from Employer B. But, in case if I get a offer from employer B, I would like to go with employer B.

If I say yes to employer A to file for the COS and if I get the COS from employer A, can I cancel the same in case if I get an offer from employer B?

To make it clear, if I get COS from one employer and before actually going for visa office for stamping, can I ask the employer to cancel the COS and can I proceed with other employer?

Please advise. Request you to please point to any document/link which has any related information to my query.

Employer A is considering to file Tier 2 general visa and I am not sure what type of visa will employer B choose to apply.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

I can't point to any file right now, but I am pretty certain that a teir 2 visa allows a holder to move from one job to another. Though I think a new application or update with the home office needs to be done.

Hi Kuya, Thanks for you reply. Do I have to even cancel previous employer COS if I think to change my employer?

I don't think you can use a COS from one sponsor for a second sponsor, sorry, what is your software speciality?

As far as I know, no.

There are very talented people swapping jobs all the time. People on visas! An employer who helps you get a visa here doesn't own you, they have to keep you by offering some nice benefits.

Hi oss, I don't intend to use COS of one employer for a second employer. All I want to know is in case if i get an offer from second employer, can I ask my first employer to cancel his COS and then ask my second employer to file a new COS? I just want to assure that this wont result in any complications. Please let me know.

That would seem reasonable but I honestly don't know.

Hi oss, Is there any reliable source with whom I can check and confirm the same? Is there any customer service for UKBA? Please let me know any helpline who can answer employee's queries. Thanks

If you were seeking work and sponsorship in the Isle of Man ( UK Crown Dependency ) then it would be simple as one can phone the Immigration department with ease. My employer simply phones them or walks through the door at will to speak to them on Sponsorship. I phoned them just the other day on British Citizenship. Easy peasy.

However, phoning the UKBA either on the UK mainland or at the respective embassies seems to be a different matter. I found that it is possible to phone the UKBA in Manila, from the UK, but a great deal of perseverance was needed. Having said that, I had better luck by email. You will have to wait a few days but they do answer eventually.

But, better than that, have you considered a visit to the embassy in Manila or VFS in Makati? My wife and I visited both and found out useful information that way.
