Someone has gone to the effort of mapping Jeepney routes in Cebu which may be useful for those willing to risk non-aircon (and potential robbery) http://cebujeepneys.weebly.com/
It's a good way to see real life though. I'm a people watcher and like to see how people go through their daily routines in this culturally different country.
Like you I'm a big people watcher (love it there) but prefer to do it in more safety and comfort than a jeepney I've only been in a jeepney once, the wife had her handbag snatched in one and since then has been reluctant to use them, the tricycle is for me, short journeys at least, hiring a driver for use on longer journeys.
does this mean that you'll try all of this route? or maybe have had hop-in and hop-off from one jeepney to another in Cebu?? :-D im a curious lady.. as i live in Cebu,, this route may be helpful to me. Jeepney route i always have every work days is 17C... APAS - LAHUG - COLON.
I got on the wrong Jeepney and ended up walking in the middle road for safety reasons around Colon. Had my wits about me that night. At least I can outrun the wife I've tried a few of those routes
I'm a short-arse dave and I find them tight. Got on one Jeepney once at the end of the working day. I thought, they surely can't get anyone else on now, it was tight shoulder to shoulder, they only went and got 3 wooden blocks off the roof, sat them in the middle of the floor and fitted another 6 in!
I'm with you on this way of travelling, HaloHalo. I always try to immerse myself into the ways of the local people if I get a chance. BUT I don't enjoy Jeepneys for more than an hour though as the seat is too close to the floor
the jeepney's is just the same old same old route. they're just running is circles.. Colon.... i wish i could familiarize everything there and not lost my way. i have been in Cebu for almost 2 years but can't familiarize that place no patience to walking round and round as there are lots of people there. :-D
