Cheap flights is something we can all take advantage of, those flying back & fore every few months & those doing the odd trip to visit family or for medical reasons. So how about members listing the company they used to book their flight, listing the price they paid & any pros or con associated with the booking & flight.

    Example:

    cheapflights.jpg
Great price from cheapflights.co.uk for this return flight, however be very careful that you're not limited to just 7kg of hand luggage and zero booked in luggage as is often the case with cheap flights & should you decide to pay extra for booked in luggage, you may also find that you're expected to collect & re-book in at each change over.

I try to look for shortest journey time too (along with a low price). I just hate sitting on planes and around airports now.

Emirates are/were doing better deals than Cathay MAN-CEB for April/May. Marginally beating CP on price even though CP were having a sale! The bit that is off-putting is that Emirates stop a CRK on the return leg, adding a few additional hours to the journey.

On the other hand, it seems that I can now get a reasonably-priced flight with Emirates from Manchester to Clark. Handy, as I go up to Pangasinan. Normally I'd stay in Manila the first night and then get the bus from there. Hmm.

I thought the major airlines had abandonded Clark.

Emirates only started the service to CRK in January

I initially got excited by the skyscanner site but when I last tried it for dates I actually wanted to travel I didn't find a flight that I was willing to take.

Skyscanner gave me a cheapest return of about £680 with el-crappo airlines taking about 22 hours to manila. Cathay pacific quoted me about £800 for a decent flight taking 15 hours total. An extra £120 for 7 hours of my life back is an easy choice for me.

Yeah but it also gives you all the standard routes and airlines further down or further across if you are using the windows store version of the app.

Actually the Windows Store app is really nice, very effective UI and incredibly quick to set up and run a query.

that's my point I bet the total journey time was about 20 hours. I think I paid about 1200 dollars each for a one way PAL 15h non stop - mind you it was at a different time of year.

A few months ago April -May flights were up at 900-1000 pounds on Emirates, I just checked some dates and the price now is incredible.

Yep. MAN-CEB is £504 with Emirates. Been like that for the last month (or thats when i started looking) Thats 18.5 hrs outbound and 21.5 inbound (because of the Clark stop). I got CP for a little bit more but times are 15.75 hours outbound and 17.5 hours inbound. CP prices have now gone up to the usual £750-ish mark now their sale has finished.

As others have suggested, I also prefer to book direct with the main airlines rather than el-crappo airlines via some agent. Easier to then get what i need such as bulkhead and bassinets.

Remember, Kayak is your friend ;)

I also think that Kayak is the best App though admittedly not tested the others quite like Kayak ('cos its got everything i need). I like its filtering and flights seem better 'joined' than other Apps. I like that i can turn off certain airlines in the filering such as 'multiple airlines' too. The daily/monthly alerts are good for finding deals especially if your not confined to travelling in a particular month. Alerts are do-able right over a full year if your so inclined. Thumbs up for me that App/site.

Incidentally those prices I mentioned are the best I've seen in a good while. Best price I ever got was £470 in 2010 with KLM MAN-MNL. I did a CebPac for £48 return to CEB on top. So the price I got just recently was probably best in relative terms.

I use Skyscanner, then always buy online, direct from the airline.
