The seafarers on the forum will know what a PLB is and I just found a cheap source for a UK PLB: http://www.force4.co.uk/9824/ACR-ResQLink--Buoyant-GPS-PLB.html It comes with £95 worth of extras for free: First Aid Kit, Whistle, signalling mirror, head torch and a strobe light. At £199.95 I think it is a positive bargain! Not sure if it is suitable for use in the Philippines but the device can be re-programmed for use in other countries but this has to be done at a specialist outlet. The one I just purchased was only manufactured in October 2013 and has a shelf life of six years before the battery needs replacing - again this has to be replaced by a specialist dealer.
