It is so sad that people can't even go to see a film with their loved ones without some maniac going on a shooting spree in a cinema:frust:

Yesterday I too went to see The Dark Knight Rises and was unaware of what had happened over in Denver, Colorado, USA. And I just can't imagine why on earth somebody would choose to kill innocent people in such a cowardly way...

I also hate the way the US media are all over this now! I was watching Fox News last night (I know, it's not really news) and they were interviewing a man who had just lost his 6 year old daughter and were asking him how he was feeling!!?? Seriously, a young man in his mid twenties who was recently divorced but had an ex wife and a 6 year old child shot, the child being fatally wounded and a so called journalist had to ask him how he was feeling? What his thoughts were to the gunman!!?? Seriously appalling TV.

At that point I had to switch off the TV and do something else, shocking.. :(

The media have been the same everywhere since as far back as I can remember, it's sickening.

The idiotic intrusion of the media at moments that are clearly heart-rendingly tragic is so obviously self interested and voyeuristic.

I remember back in the 80's making comments to my partner at the time very similar to your post Sean when we were watching coverage of the Zeebrugge disaster, the unremitting level of coverage and inane questions being asked of survivors just beggared belief.

The journalists and reporters engaged in the reporting of these sort of events all too often show a complete lack of basic human empathy, we are lucky in this country that we still have some mature journalists and reporters with more than one brain cell but they are becoming a rarity.

Exactly.. We don't need to see the camera in the faces of broken people. Keep the camera well out of the way and let us hear from the police or similar people in authority - though not personally connected.

The fact that children as well as adults were killed is enough to make this tragedy more appalling, there is just no need for the type of reporting the news industry seems to think we want.

    We don't!!!
