Starting to look at Citizenship application and wanted to check on the requirements for the passport - does it need to be submitted or can it be scanned as part of the submission process ? Also useful to understand the full set of documents required for citizenship application if anyone has a list to hand. Got a copy of the referee forums (and think that only need two referee's - was planning on a civil servant that I know and his partner (not married but living together) who has got british citizenship a few years ago. Been told that they have to sign and then submit the hard copy version of the form with a glued on photo.
We scanned all pages and uploaded, referees you nominate electronically with their e mail address HO contact them by e mail for a confirmation, and you send hard copies in with a photo and signed by referees on back. Good luck with it. Ours took about 8 weeks I think to process then you get certificate then with certificate number you can book ceremony.
Are you not applying online? I am just reading this document now which may help. https://assets.publishing.service.g..._Booklet_The_Requirements_and_The_Process.pdf I thought this was done online. The latest passport(s) are needed to help show that your wife hasn't been out of the country for an excessive amount of time (270 days out of 3 years) and to also confirm your wife was in the UK 3 years ago to the day.
That’s why you scan the passport ( all pages) and upload. Also be careful to pick out the correct information the booklet you’ve linked covers naturalisation by legal means and naturalisation (becoming a BC by the visa (spouse, form,ILR) process they are different.3 and 5 year route What does naturalization mean in the UK? What is naturalisation? Naturalisation is the legal process by which a person changes their nationality. For hundreds of years, foreign nationals living in the UK, and sometimes living abroad, have been able to attain British citizenship through naturalisation.
Intention would be to use the online process but was talking to someone and implication was that needed to send in passport which was bit surprised at as understood could scan it and also there is talk about being able to travel after submission which wouldnt make sense if had to submit passport. Just need to start lining up all the requirements and understand any complications as we really need the passport while it is being done.
I think that guideline states that you can still travel whilst awaiting the result. But, you need to be available in case the HO have any questions, so I don't think you need to post your passport.
Yeah, assumed it was the 3 year route for the OP as assumed his wife was applying as a spouse of a BC.
Nearly finished application- just need to read through all the answers and nearly at the point of paying for it but not had opportunity to upload any documents. Does Document upload options appear after paying and can you upload the referee signature documents as well or do they need to be sent on paper ?
