Hello, could anyone advise what to do with this please? I just had my passport renewed to my married name and I would like to apply for UK citizenship asap. My passport has new name but my BRP is still in the old name.. should I renew it first to match with new passport before applying for citizenship? As far as I know it will become useless once I get the citizenship so means it would just be a waste of money renewing? I have around 2 months left to renew the BRP. Thank you in advance. Regards x

Your passport and BRP names should be identical regardless of time scales and future events.

By renewing your passport you have done yourself a massive favour in as much as when you get BC and a British passport you will retain your Philippines nationality for the duration of the passport (dual citizenship)

Thank you! Just submitted my application to update my BRP. Hubby wasn't so happy that I paid £200 for UKVCAS. As far as I know it's the only way I can submit documents and biometrics to HO?

Tell him you’ve saved him a trip to the Philippines embassy in London, he will then probably think it’s £200 well spent!

Oh, we just drove from Aberdeen to London 2 months ago to renew my passport.. will never do it again!

Can I ask you another question? In my application, the documents required is a proof of address and an original document showing grant of settlement. Proof of address is still in my old name would it be okay? Also, the example of grant of settlement in the form didn't mention BRP but only vignette, passport, and RON. I'm confused as I only have BRP as a proof. Thank you.

Have you still got the HO letters granting you your visas ILR if so use them with passport and BRP card which has been granted to you as proof of settlement.
Don’t worry about address being in old name as they will want your marriage certificate

It was COViD times so they only sent an email. I'm not confident if I understand it right so this is what it says...
"Your application for indefinite leave to remain in the UK has been successful.
    What happens next

You will receive your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) by courier within 7 working days. It is your BRP, not this letter, that is the official document that grants you status."

BRP card is fine but you can if you wish support it with the e mail you have. Its a fairly straightforward application unlike the visa journey! You will be fine
