    Hi,

My fiancée arrived in the U.K. last week after we got the 6 month entry clearance (fiancée visa) approved.

We now need to get married and can then apply for the FLR(m) I believe which switches the fiancée visa to spouse visa with 2 year validity.

My questions if anyone could kindly help:

1: can we give notice/marry in any council register office?
(I was told it has to be designated which is only Manchester/London main locations etc. But I’m not a resident in one)

2: do we really have to wait 28 days before the current visa expires to submit the new application? (Seems like that’s leaving it very late)

Any responses would be much appreciated ☺️

    Thanks

Call the register office where you wanna marry. They will ask for your card number to get your reservation payment. You will receive email after that. They will tell you where you can give your notice of marriage (that is the designated office nearest you) and appointment details. You will also receive a letter from the Register office where you will have an appointment. For us, we chose Bishop Auckland Registry Office in Durham since we are from here. But we gave our notice of marriage in Newcastle Registry Office.

You can apply for FLR (M) as soon as you're married. No need to wait for 28 days before expiry.
