Same as anyone else in the Phils you pay a private dentist.

I've not used a dentist over there but my partner has had quotes for work and it is a lot cheaper than here, still expensive but a fraction of the expense involved here for fully private work.

Can't give you exact figures but it is a couple of hundred peso to have a tooth removed a few thousand for a root canal, this is based on a visit to the dentist on the ground floor of our condo many years ago so don't put a lot of faith in the numbers, but I am fairly sure it is a lot cheaper than here.

I keep meaning to get some work done over there.

It's a lot cheaper in the Philippines but you have to pick the right one as the equipment and expertise differs. Best go to an upscale mall in a main city. Smile clinic is ok I think they have dentists across the Philippines. Best ask expats who live locally to you for recommendations. Thew that's me done a lot of effort on my small brain for a big gorilla I'm off now for a nap and of course bananas

    Philippines is a big country,
    • Where in the Philippines will you be visiting?
    • Why do you need to see the dentist?
    • What do you need doing?
    • Do you want low cost dentistry, or decent quality dentistry (extraction or restoration)?
I have had poor dentistry in the Philippines, if you want a top notch dentist PM me and I will recommend my dentist in Bangkok (Thailand). :like:

It depends on the treatment you will udergo and dental clinic you will visit. I suggest
you survey first with the help of your woman here.

My wife has had a number of treatments here in the Philippines over the years.
She had root canal treatment one time which was done in a top quality dental clinic in Manila and was actually surprisingly cheap compared to UK.

As others have said be very choosey and try to find somewhere recommended.
There's plenty of good clinics in the shopping malls who can do good work for standard procedures. Anything more complicated you'd better dig deeper, but I would say the dental treatment here is top notch based on our experience and very affordable too.

Personally, I've not undergone any here......but I've recently lost a filling right at the back and can feel a hole. It'll have to get done sooner rather than later but I keep putting it off.
I hate going to the dentist

I concur with Micawber; there are many excellent dentists in the Philippines but, like the many excellent doctors, they follow American practice, and as a Brit you will need to get used to that. Costs are very significantly less than in the UK.

To expand slightly on that - A Filipino dentist, like an American one, will pay more attention to what your teeth look like than a British dentist will. A British dentist is likely to "steer you away" from such processes as caps and veneers, on the grounds that all you really need are a strong and reliable set of gnashers, whereas an American or a Filipino dentist will be much more likely to recommend these.

I have had some very good haircuts in the Philippines.

Not women, not bakla, not a student, I always try to find an older more experienced barber who wears a white jacket, looks like he has been cutting hair all his life, and knows how to cut hair properly using scissors.

If you need dentures here you can go direct to the technician, bypassing the dentist and save a few thousand.

Yes, you do get some great haircuts and attention.
I've also had a shave, complete with a very large 'cut-throat' razor. Which was a very unnerving experience I have to admit. But the result was wonderful.

I think the technician will not entertain you, unless you already knew what kind of dentures you will need, coz technicians are not dentsist at all.....
Let the dentist do his job! :);)

My wife had a tooth extracted a couple of weeks back in The Philippines and got a new set of dentures. She is 41 and has 22 teeth. I am 64 and have 32 teeth.

Just check-up with general cleaning/whitening is around 500 to 1000 pesos (7 to 14 GBP).

Tooth extraction is around 2,000 pesos (already includes cleaning/whitening).

For major operations like wisdom teeth extraction is around 10K pesos (per tooth).

Crowning/jacketing cost around 10K and up depending on the quality of the crown (if it's metal/screw based then more expensive).

    Dental insurance is non-existent.

My auntie is a dentist by the way so if you ever passed by Manila and looking for one, just message me here.
