Its all over facebook. There is a hate page for her as well. What she said is sooo wrong. We are more than 'maids'. Clearly, she doesn't have any idea how great filipinos are. And for the record, filipinos smell better than Indians. :D

For those who want to read what this odious 'septic' wrote rather than be bored by a slideshow of her snaps, click here.

Unfortunately she is not alone in looking down on Filipinos, it's a trait often found in certain foreigners who come to these islands for work, study or play. Those foreigners are mostly from regional neighbours and the worst offenders are Korean as many a Cebuano or Dabawenyo will tell you.

    'Septic' - Cockney-Rhyming slang: septic-tank, yank.

Indians (as opposed to Singaporeans of Indian descent - a very different thing!) are not well thought of in Singapore.

An Indian calling Filipinas "smelly"? A very unwise comment :(

My land-line provider has call centres in Philippines, UK, South Africa and India.

I would definitely rate the Indian call centres at the very bottom of the list.

Well, hopefully, with Miss Philippines winning Miss World, the perception held by Devina DeDiva (can't be her real name surely ?) and any others, will be well and truly bucked.

I notice Miss DeDivas isn't much of a picture herself eh...

I also notice that she hides behind the right to freedom of speech. A defence that is used in many a dark corner of the universe and Wiltshire

"She added: "Those of you who wrote negatively to my comment, I got one question -- who are you to stop my words when the world is democratic in freedom of speech?" "

IIRC, there is only one place in the whole of the British Isles where there is more or less complete freedom of speech - and it ain't in Wiltshire. It is the few square yards at the northeast tip of Hyde Park in London known as Speakers' Corner. But even there you can be arrested for spewing racial hatred.

This image was, apparently, uploaded to Twitter:

This is so true. But some people think they have the freedom of speech to spew forth.

Some people's lower intellectual and thinking process doesn't make distinctions, and thus it is up to other, more adequately equipped persons to make them see the difference and the error in their ways.

They don't know any better, wether by family upbringing, cultural difference, fear of the unknown or different, and it all boils down to education.

There have been other instances in the past, whereas Filipinos were slated on different US sitcoms, and one in a particular sketch by well known UK comedians, which managed to put me off them.

This is for reference only, and I was annoyed that it is still available on utchb.

Going back to the instance at hand, I personally think that the Indian woman so bitterly insulting, is just showing what a huge majority of Indians feel about other asian races.
And their own caste system is geared up to that kind of situation as they don't like each other much either...

Seems to me that Filipinos have elevated this strange woman to some sort of celebrity status with various facebook pages and everyone commenting on her, and posting nastiness in response to her vile comments.
Ignore the rubbish and be loud and proud Megan Young is from the Philippines and she's Miss World.
I'd much rather read about Megan and admire pictures of her than listen to anything Devina Dewhatshername has to say.

She just want to be popular and she did it! Just a stupid idea, I bet she regret it!
I can't generalised Indians as I visited India and they are lovely people! Also I have relatives who are half Indians and they are good people!
