how do these charities survive if the CEO leaves ? would a CEO take the job for a " normal" salary? i never give to charities.
Anonymous emails claim that UNICEF USA's CEO earns more than $1 million and has use of a Rolls Royce. These assertions are false. As President and CEO of UNICEF USA, Caryl Stern earns $569,378. WTF
There will be the usual excuse, that these organisations need to attract the 'top' (open to interpretation) people in a competitive market, to lead them. Any fool knows that it is the 'troops on the ground' who do 99% of the REAL work.
i remember when the ceo of the council resigned here --after only one year in office--( £100k +salary )==it took a long while before a replacement arrived. however--in that time the whole council operation did not grind to a halt. funny that.
What do people think is a reasonable salary for leaders of charitable foundations (or companies)? These groups exist to make money just like most other businesses. If it was led by people on £30k/year, how successful would it be? Little Old Doris shaking her collection tin outside the shopping centre is all well and good, but I don't think she'd manage very well in lobbying, organising new initiatives etc. Whilst it's clearly a lot of money that this woman earns, it is still a long way from figures she could potentially pick up in the private sector.
Prime Minister salery in the region currently of £150,000 and the UK is no charity base! Oh no wait a minute.
Based on the level of borrowing at the moment I think we are a worthy cause. Ridiculous salaries for charities.
