My girlfriend is in Abu Dhabi and I am in uk and she has two year visit visa.
    Now I wish her to come and stay so we will marry and believe it best to do so in UK so my question is;
what would she need from the philippines, original documents, other than passport and english test report which she has with her - to make the application

i am new to this site so I hope you can help me along - thxs

You might want to look at this, prepared by Mr Micawber - its pretty comprehensive:
(Your wife would have to apply from the Philippines, I believe - no doubt someone will clarify that)

Do you mean she has a 2 year multiple entry visa for UK?

Hi there Expat, welcome to the forum.

Hopefully you'll be able to find a way to share your life together in UK.
    Not the easiest of tasks.

I'm not sure just how much research you've already done, so I'll make some comments based solely on what your divulged

Well, firstly the visit Visa isn't going to help you at all.
She can only stay for 6 months max on a visit visa and she'll not be permitted to marry here and switch category whilst on a visit visa.
Means she'll need to apply from outside UK

If you study the link John provided for you, you'll see that her ability to come to UK and stay as your Fiancee or Wife depends totally on your :-
    a) Immigration status in UK
    b) Employment and income status or
    c) Amount of cash savings held between yu both above £16,000
    d) Accommodation

You haven't given sufficient information to give any indication on the challenges that may or may not be ahead.

Please do take the time to review the link and then ask any specific questions you need clarification on.

By the way what's her immigration status in Abu Dhabi ?
If she's resident there she can also apply from there for a UK settlement route visa

This has already been posted here in the 'UK Visa and Immigration Help' section

Here's the link - New Requirements for Settlement and Naturalisation

Mystica your post is somewhat misleading.
Those folks who have already passed a Life in UK test will NOT be required to re-take that. ALL previous versions are fully accepted.

Secondly, the new English Language requirement is NOT limited in any to the ESOL courses from the company you posted a link to.

In fact it can be ANY test from a range of English language qualifications accepted by UKBA as evidence that an applicant has met the B1 level speaking and listening requirements.

Qualifications covering speaking and listening at B1 or above from should be selected from the Home Office's Secure English Language Test (SELT) list.

The official news release for these changes can be found here

Firstly, I wish to say thank you and note that I appreciate everyone's replies and comments.

    In answer to a few points;
We should be able to pass the requirements from UKBA regarding such as; salary and accommodation etc
She has sat the english test in UAE - 7 on elts (which states pass)
She has a resident visa in UAE
Yes, her current 2 year visa is only a visit visa with 6mths max, at a time.

    Now.... some more questions..
Is it easier and cheaper to go somewhere around middle east / asia and get married there before coming back to UK thus only one visa cost (spouse only rather than finance then spouse) or should it be done in UK?

If she can apply from middle east then that will be better but what documents will she need from her home country?

    thanks in advance
