I am extremely annoyed with the Media in general, to the point of bursting....:boxer:

The recent typhoons, striking the Philippines have been reported by nearly everyone as a footnote and not really as a main news topic, that would have, normally, attracted simpathy from the public at large.

I find this behaviour a bit biased and repugnant because if such tragedy had happened somewhere else, like Pakistan, India, or even bangla Desh, all the Media would have written huge long reports of the hardships endured by the populace, and then they launch charity appeals to raise funds....

    But for the Philippines.... Zilch..............:erm:

    Why is that...???

Has it something to do with voters percentages in the UK...?

Even the Government, usually, ever so, eager to squander our tax money, by donating huge amounts of it, to charities that may funnel some of the same, to more nefarious ends, is staying very quiet about donating anything to some kind of relief operation in Phil...:erm:
It would be pointless really, as nobody has started an appeal at all yet....:erm:
And I doubt one will be started any time soon................
But then again, if one of those countries mentioned earlier had been in the frame, as in the past, no end of charities would have come out of the wood work to help...

I tried to post a similar comment on the Mail online, but somehow it didn't get through....

I was feeling this as well. When the Pakistan floods happened there were people walking round my office asking for donation, I myself agreed to help collect for a charity (turned out to be a Muslim charity and really most of their donations were for Palestine).. Anyway, this is simply due to the fact that as a populace in this country, Filipino's are just hugely outnumbered by Pakistani communities.

    And news is business!!!

But then we could also say that if at the same time a flood struck south Wales and cost a few villagers their savings, we would know about that ahead of the hundreds of people in Mindanao who have lost their lives...
