I do not know how this relates to UK.

Before my wife came to Spain she obtained a Driving Licence, non professional, in Phil. (she did not have to take a test and had never driven)

After she had been in Spain for a while it became possible to exchange a Phil DL for a Spanish one, providing the holder had the DL before coming to Spain.

In Spain only a driving school can teach a learner. Not even practising accompanied by a full licence holder is permitted.

By exchanging the DL I can now teach my wife to drive, as she has a full Spanish DL.

Do they have to pass a test in the Phils to drive? the GF says not, but how on earth does that work.

One good thing about driving in Spain is that the use of indicators when overtaking etc is compulsory and strictly enforced, not using indicators when driving in the UK is my pet hate.

Indicators ! What part of Spain are you talking about ? Certainly not Andalusia.

Phils. I understand one 'normally' needs to pass a driving test and a drugs test to get a DL. But they have this nice little arrangement if one 'pays a little extra' it gets forgotten !

Its good to be able to oil the wheels of administration sometimes (especially if it suits us) but having stringent rules for driving in the Phils would help with the free for all on the roads there.

It amuses me watching people drive there, its the survival of the fittest although its not as bad as some countries I've worked in, most notably Egypt, Syria and the like.
