There are some very good Chinese-branded smartphones these days and I guess they can be purchased in the Philippines. You just have to be very careful what you buy as the Chinese copy everything! So, you can get a decent Chinese-own branded item or an awful clone of the very same item!

I just bought some items from China. Like many Chinese websites, they massively underdeclare the value of items so I did not have to pay import duties into the UK. Not sure if that trick works on goods imported into the Philippines though!

I just helped a Chinese friend to select and buy a good violin for a friend of his in Shanghai; we did the same thing, packing the "customs invoice" with the instrument in its case and the real one (ten times higher) in his wallet.

The good Chinese smartphones are imported into the Philippines officially and badged with a Philippines badge.

Yes. She now has the Samsung Galaxy Duos ( Duel Sim ) the same as my wifes sister. Although she isnt tech savvy she has young people around her so they are helping her out with Viber Skype etc

It appears to be up and running.
