    Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I last created a thread here. I’m happy to let you all know that I successfully got my visa last December and I’m already here in London.

Now, I’ve got a new issue and I’m hoping someone can give advice. I sent my passport to DVLA to get a provisional driving licence. I already received my licence back after a week and it is now the third week that my passport hasn’t been returned yet.

I called DVLA and they told me that they left it to be collected by Royalmail last January 22. I then called RoyalMail, and the guy created a report about my situation as he said that it is possibly missing and they will contact me again within 48 hours to give an update.

I’m very worried now because it is the only valid ID I have to prove my right to work and the jobs I applied for are waiting for me to show it to them. Does anyone experience the same? Can I trust Royalmail to get me my passport back? Please help

    Thank you all in advance

For your security they will not send your passport and licence in the same package. Your passport will arrive about 10 days after your licence.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of that, and I got my licence last Jan 20.

You need to report it to dvla. My passport arrived a week after the provisional DL. So not getting it for nearly a month now is very unusual.

That is the reason why i didnt send my passport to them when i applied for a provisional DL. If they (dvla or royal mail or any courier) lost my BRP, the dvla can easily re-issue the brp (since it their fault and its a UK document) but not your passport. It will take you about 3 months to get a new one.
