Personally, I know little about Ed Miliband in terms of his policies and to be honest I haven't been too bothered with following the leadership battle for the Labour party. And I always thought it was a huge mistake for the schemers and plotters to oust Tony Blair little over a year after he won them another term in office..

And I have read some comments already declaring Labour doomed at the next election, with some labeling him "Marxist like his father". Though I doubt those as little more than ramblings from the right, but we will see over the coming months and years what Ed Miliband has to offer... And if the current Government splits over any issues it could mean an Election is sooner than later:rolleyes:

I think Ed will lead Labour into the wilderness for a good while. He's got a long way to go to convince the UK that Labour are a viable alternative to the Con-Dems. Cameron is safe for a while.

I don't know why everyone is willing the coalition to fail. Whats the alternative? A Labour party in disarray, a new leader not yet sure where his own party is going, and a party proven not to be trusted looking after the economy?

I watched his speech today and I was far from impressed:eek:

To be honest, I am a bit of a leftie. Although of late I have been edging towards the lib dems, and am still waiting to see what the current Government is going to bring us (I think they have barely gotten their plans together now they're a coalition).

As I was watching the speech today I thought that the next labour Prime Minister might well be a Miliband, but not Ed.. He might just turn out to be the sacrificial lamb to get slaughtered at the next election.

    My thoughts entirely.........

Ed Miliband doesn't strike me as a candidate for anything apart from a cushy council job.

The "Speech" was nothing else than meaningless meanderings into past sell by date socialist dogmas which we heard time and time again...

"Optimism".... In rebuilding the country...... If they hadn't :f:ed it up in the first place, there would be no need for rebuilding...
Again, they blame the Tories for all the ills, they themselves have caused over 13 years of maladministration and serial incompetence.
Oh, yeah, the Unions will be out in force to make a mess of things once more on a road to economic suicide by destroying businesses and jobs alongside them.

The "Real" Labour Party is full of good intentions and ideas to help the masses, but unfortunately, as we have seen several times in the past, they haven't got a clue on how to deliver the goods, without bankrupting the economy in the process.
The reason in my opinion?....? They are not business minded at all... But they all know and can recite "Das Kapital" from cover to cover...

My problem with Labour is several MPs who are a disgrace to this country. Keith Vaz is one I despise with a passion, after seeing him on Newsnight gloating how he has helped curtail freedom of speech..

And then there is Harriot Harman, Hazel blears, Jack Straw... If Ed Miliband made those four nothing but back benchers then I would consider voting for Labour again.
