The link mattecube posted up the board a bit seems good. They say the employer pays everything if they offer. I called them up and the person i spoke to seemed like a good sort.

If i could do it i'd be gone from here and would get into the heat. Seems a nicer place to be with generally a gentler kinder people over there from all i've heard. (Speaking generally)

Not that i'm really qualified to say that, it's just what i've heard.

Hi Fazer1 and welcome here :)

I have worked in the UK care sector a little bit and employers all seem to ask if prospective employees have the right to work in the UK.

Hi aposhark, thanks for the welcome.

Yeah it seems to be part of the "New Normal", not just in the care sector either. I don't imagine it'll really be a problem if going through the process of taking up employment because during that process some kind of visa would be required. Work visa for example, and then as far as i'm aware other visa options can be considered down the road a bit.

I'm not really that well versed on it, but one of the links up the page a bit see's the employer pay for the expenses involved if they offer a position.

Although, i imagine it perhaps isn't so easy as it sounds.

Hi Mattecube (or anobody else for that matter), do you have an idea of how long the process takes going with the campany in that link you sent me?

Both in terms of roughly how long is it from time of applying to a job offer being made?

And once a job offer has been made, then how long does the process take to get the person over here?

I appreciate those questions are kind of hard to answer as each application and cicumstance will be different.....but... i'm just hoping to get a rough idea from others experiences if possible in order that i may pass on a little hope to my friend.

I'm trying to find a little hope amongst the bad news of the proposed wage changes to be brought in April next year. My thinking is if she can get in the system before the changes are applied then she might beat the deadline.

    Thanks.

Perhaps because the UK does not tolerate slavery ?

I've not watched the video you linked to, but i imagine your being sarcastic with your statement re slavery, yes?

I watched it and sadly, he's not.

The reality is that women/girls working in middle east generally get engaged by an agency to work as a domestic under what they call the kafala system... some of the houses they first work for will treat them like a piece of property... selling them on to another house to make a profit and then they'll get sold on again etc... they keep their passports, phones and only let them out with a chaperone etc.

To trade the domestics, they use phone apps that you can download from Google Play and Apple.

Or, were you thinking about whether the wages they pay care workers might be classed as slave-labour rates given the new threshold for migrant workers is £38,700?

I think he must have been being sarcastic John, he clearly knows what the contents of the video are and still suggested UK does not entertain slavery. If you see what i mean.

But no, the reason i was asking is because we are all born to slavery whether most realise this or not.

I asked for one reason simply to gauge his response, thinking that i might get feedback that indicated he was already aware of it.

And for a second reason, which escapes me for the moment. I just woke in middle of the night and saw the message do decided to reply, so i'm a bit groggy. ...haha

I was referring to the straw man stuff if you know what that is?

    Maritime law and birth certificates.

This is why i see most of us here as born to slavery. Born into a system that taxes us to death, which our parents are tricked into letting happen.

I won't ramble on about it here though, but that's what i was hinting at when i replied to GJD223.

I did leave a thumbs up to show i'm not being off with you John, but for some reason when i leave an emoji it doesn't work. :)

Fortunately I am not encumbered by the above poster's outlook on life.

Neither am I an expert on reading the minds of others...as he appears to be.

    Carry on.

Do you think an ostridge with it's head buried deep in the sand is "encumbered" with the knowledge that it's about to be shot by a hunter looking for food?

So if your right and i'm wrong, can you explain why we are always moving toward loosing freedoms?

Are you aware of the Chinese social credit system.

And are you aware that we are all about to be brought into a digital hell which is for all intents and purposes the chinese social credit system rolled out accross the planet. Essentially we will be living in an open air prison, even more than we are now. And i can tell you that is quite a ways along going by the experiences i have had recently just applying for jobs.

Or i suppose you think i'm imagining that also do you?

No, we're not slaves at all, are we.

Tell me, when was the last time your face was scanned by facial recognition technology?

I bet you have no idea, and there in lies the point.

If i were you i'd take a cold shower and realise what world your living in and who your friends are before you try to ridicule someone you never met for having a different understanding of something that you do.

"Carry on" ... trusting your government!

It's difficult to take seriously a person who hasn't even mastered spelling.

But...carry on. I'm always game for a laugh. :like:

    Oh Boy,

In the face of the reality i state above that nobody can deny, you choose to try to belittle me because i made a little school boy typing error.

Just go's to show me where your heads at.

I make spelling errors and all kinds of errors. I'm a human. Best way to learn is by trying and failing. Last lesson i learned is people who try to bring you down aint worth their weight in BS.

I realise these days being human is not desirable by those who are running the show, but maybe your ok with that.

Your obviously ok with trying to ridicule and shut down someone with a different knowledge base than your own, and so perhaps you should consider doing us all a favour and moving to China, where it sounds you'd be best suited.

That would be a win win.

I entered the Philippines on the 30th of Nov this year and the only requirement was the E health pass which is done on line 72hrs before you travel, when arriving at Edinburgh Airport baggage weigh in I was asked if I had done this, I answered yes, but no proof that I had was asked of me.

On arriving at my destination Airport in Cebu, just before passport control two nice young ladies asked me if I had my E pass and even before I got the chance to say yes, they were trying to whisk me over to a bank of computers to do this pass for me, when I get to passport control I was never asked for proof of having it, only my Passport, perhaps this is already registered on their system? or more likely the officer could not be bothered with it?

Many times I have travelled back and forth between Scotland and the Philippines but this time was the easiest of all in so many ways, as an old coffin dodger of 71yrs and getting a bit slow on the uptake I was not looking forward to this long distance flight, also it was the first time I had even done on line check in, this was a breeze I have booked the same isle seat 24D (near the p!zz hoose) on all four flights which includes my return flights in two months time.

Hey Dave, sorry for very late reply. I have been between jobs and other stresses for a while. Your lucky to be able to go abroad so often, it's not something i've ever been in a position to do.

I might be able to go see my friend this year if i decide it's worth the risk financially. But it looks like being able to go there full time (or her come here) is more and more unlikely. But i will continue to look for a way.

Thanks for taking time to reply, and again i appologise for my late response.

I can appreciate why you might say that, but he must be ok man. I made a different post in which he was forgiving of the post you refer to above, where offered some words of help or advice....

And i didn't say it in a direct way, but i did very much appreciate and respect him doing that as it takes strength character.

    It's all good.

As an ICU Nurse myself working in the Middle East and married to an OFW I can vouch for what the rest have said. You are better going down her current career path and applying for agency. My wife paid around 40k peso when she signed up for her first job in Abu Dhabi with a retail company here. It may be harder to get a job in Scotland through but not impossible. Good luck.
