Curiously this appears in the IOM news but not in the UK news. But is does state that it is alignment with the UK. Previously it wasn't possible to sit one of these tests here on the island but now they are going to set one up. New English test for foreign nationals moving to island English tests for non-EU spouses A new English language test for foreign nationals applying to settle in the Isle of Man will be introduced next month, it has been announced. The Passport, Immigration and Nationality Office said the move, which will take effect from 28 October, is in line with the United Kingdom. A spokesman said: "It is hoped the English test will help applicants integrate into the community". Those applying for British citizenship will also need to pass the test. The spokesman added: "Foreign nationals who apply for indefinite leave to remain (settlement) or to become a British citizen (naturalisation) in the Isle of Man have to demonstrate, in addition to other criteria, their knowledge of language and life in the UK and islands." The test will be offered every month at the Isle of Man college in Douglas.
