Lynching the country and not just Davao maybe?

DAVAO -- After months of saying no, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is no longer closing his doors on the possibility of running for president in 2016, said former North Cotabato governor Emmanuel Piñol.

Piñol, who was with Duterte in Macau during the Pacquiao-Algieri fight last Sunday, said the city mayor said "okay" when asked to listen to the voice of the people before making any final decision.

I will be mightily surprised if Duterte agrees to allow his name to go forward. He really doesn't have any friends on Luzon and not amongst the rich families that actually control this country, so he'd be rather too exposed for his own good.

As you're probably aware Mark he has been actively refusing calls for presidency but according to the reports may well be having a change of heart or at least giving the perception.

It is entirely possible that he will be negotiating with people who do in fact intend to run, to see what he will get in return for backing them.

Suggesting that he might run would be a normal part of such negotiations.

At this stage, there is a lot of casting about for possible runners and riders and the serious candidates are seeking to negotiate with others who might run in order to discourage them from doing so and thereby splitting the vote.

I don't think that President Aquino intended to seek a change to the Constitution to allow him to run for a second term, either. That was a tactic to remind people of what may be at risk if Binay gets in. I am reasobaly sure that the Liberal candidate will be Mar Roxas.

As far as I'm aware, Mar Roxas is the Liberal candidate.

Not officially; they have not chosen a candidate yet.
