Hi, i need someones help please.
    1. Our passport was out of date since july 2012 and we're planning to apply for british citizenship this oct 2012. Do we still need to renew our Out of date phil passport before applying for british citizenship? Or is that valid/ok to send the documents with invalid passport?
    2. We had our ILR last March 2010 and i gave birth April 2010. Do i still need to include my daughter for our application on british citizenship or she could go straight to apply for british passport?
Thanks and looking forward for someones reply.

Much depends where you are resident and it's not clear from your posting whether you're currently in the UK or here in the Philippines. However, as a general guideline, your principal form of identification (eg your Passport) should always be kept up to date.

Regardless of where your daughter was born, if she is the natural child of the marriage (or was born in the UK), she is automatically a British citizen on birth and you do not need to apply for that. If you gave birth in the UK, that would have been recorded with the local Registrar or Births, Deaths and Marriages in the town/city where she was born.

If, on the other hand, she was born in the Philippines, then she won't have a British Birth Certificate as proof of nationality and entitlement to a British Passport. In this case, you will have to register her birth with the British Embassy in Manila - or with the Hon. Consul in Cebu - and there are full details of all the requirements on the Embassy's web site. She will need the Consular Certificate in order to be able to obtain her first British Passport since her nationality isn't otherwise recorded and you will have to apply to the Embassy in Manila even if you and she are now UK residents.

    Dear Sir, Ma'am,
I need an advise please. We're planning to apply for our British citizenship next month and as I was filling the application form there was a question regarding CURRENT PASSPORT NUMBER. Our Philippine passport was now expired since July 2012.

1.Do we still need to renew our Philippine passport before applying for a British Citizenship? Or would that be OK sending an out of date passport and give the Passport Number from the out of date passport. Our ILR is stamped in the out of date passport.

    2. We had our ILR last March 2010 and gave birth April 2010. I just want to double check if i still need to include my 2year old in my application? Or is she a British Citizen straight away and just apply her for a British Passport?

    3. I've got a 15 and 10 year old daughters. Am i going to add £80 perchild for their ceremony fee or does that only apply to 18 years old above?

Thank you very much and looking forward to you replies.

Generally I would agree with the comment of Marham that it's always a good practice to keep your passport up to date.
Having said that, there is no need to update your Philippine Passport in order to apply for British Citizenship.

In fact, by completing the oath-taking ceremony for British Citizenship you will automatically lose your PHilippine citizenship.
Should you wish to re-acquire your Philippine Citizenship (Very highly recommended in my opinion) you will need to make an oathtaking at the Philippine Embassy and apply for a new passport anyway.
My hot tip. Secure a British passport before doing this if you have any travel plans with 6 months of your British Naturalisation or you will be unable to travel.

Means you may apply for naturalisation with an "expired" foreign passport.
However, you may be requested to prove that you have not left the UK on an additional passport or have another passport/travel document.
You may want to consider having written confirmation from the Philippine Embassy that this is the case and that you do not have another passport.

Now, if you (or your spouse) apply for naturalisation you can also apply for your children to be registered as British citizens at the same time, but only while they're still under 18.
Once they turn 18 they will need to apply for naturalisation under the same rules as apply to you parent(s).
It would be a separate application from yours as they would be adult.

Your child who was born in the UK is a British citizen if either or both parent(s) were permanent residents (ILR or citizens) on the date of her birth, and is eligible for a British Passport.

    Hope that helps
