I'm surprised there is nothing in the news about this.

Having said that for me a lot would depend on how he delivered the "**** off back to Scotland then" comment, it could have been delivered in a very jovial leg pulling manner for the entertainment of the six former audience, six formers are adults of course and probably would enjoy such a comment if not delivered malicious way.

I know it would have amused me.

The manner of the delivery is always open to interpretation and misinterpretation. And, yes, as a society we are generally expressing faux outrage far too often. But, he surely would have known that the phrase would land him in hot water.

Does little for the image of "not being the nasty party anymore", and there's not much there to promote "strong and stable leadership". It's a shame that politicians are becoming less adept at facing an opposing view. Much like internet forums where debate is often stifled by the use of straw men and ad hominem attacks. The MP would have won brownie points (but not headlines) if he challenged her independence viewpoint with a good counter argument based on facts.

I don't agree with his comment for the reasons you state about the comment being open to interpretation, a foolish comment for sure, probably done on the spare of the moment as opposed to him having a axe to grind.

Very little on this even in the local press and the school has apparently refused to comment to them.

Very belittling heading "schoolkid" when in a greenhouse never throw stones

It is also old news - the incident took place some time ago since when James Heappey has unreservedlly apologised both to Millfield School and its SNP-supporting 6th Form student.

It was reported on Sky News this morning, only about a minute's slot though, it did say that the kids father is a SNP supporter hence the complaint.

Ahh, I was under the impression it was recent hence the report on the news this morning, surprising something like this has taken so long to come to light, I thought it would have made instant news.

Not sure why the time elapsed is an issue. Especially when you keep mentioning Foot's manifesto from 34 years ago.

Would it have been more serious if he'd said it to a Tory supporting 6th form student?

Interesting what being loyal to one single party does to people. Markham discounts this as "old" news. It happened 6 weeks ago.

Can we call this one F***(Up)Gate

Wells is a strange seat, the Tories managed to lose it to the Lib Dems in 2010. Tessa Munt is standing again, she stood and lost in 2005, stood and won in 2010, lost in 2015. Hopefully there is a pattern, because politics can do without the likes of this man.

This article seems to profile a hard working lady eager to get her seat back. She's been campaigning since the day she lost her seat.

    One seat to watch.
