Anybody visited either or both. I am in Falkirk and aim to go to one or the other, wont have time for both.

The Falkirk Wheel seems to be a bit of modern engineering for the two canals up here between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

    Edinburgh :like:

Wonderful combination of history, culture, architecture and the Royal Mile.
Cobbled streets for roaming and the majestic and stunning Edinburgh castle for viewing and Princes Street for shopping.
Sample some truly fab Scottish whisky

    It's no contest for me.

I have been asking the locals about the Falkirk Wheel and they arent over entusiastic about it. So Edinburgh it is. Hope it doesnt pee down with rain though...

Edinberg every time. The wheel is an impressive piece of engineering but you'd probably go and look at it for an hour and then walk away thinking how long will it take me to get to central station!

East coast is drier than the west but yeah it can still be grey cold and wet.

Damn. We missed that, then. It was just as Oss described, grey and misty with some heavy outbreaks of rain. Had a quick squint at Holyrood and Arthurs Seat ( guffaw guffaw ) and during a dry spell had a walk down Princess Street but had to call it a day owing to the weather. Shame. Concluded that I could have done with 2 or 3 days there when the weather is better.
