Fiancé visa - overdraft bank account

    Hi All,

My fiancé and I are planning to apply this January for a fiancé visa. However, I’m very worried about my overdraft which is almost £-500. This has been going on for a few months. The reason for this is that I have been saving up money for my fiancé’s visa fees and have been putting £500 every month to my savings account.

I have about £2,800 in that savings account and have just transferred £100 back to my main account so now back in the positives.

I am also earning £24,000 per annum since Aug 2017. Prior to that it was £22,500. I have been working for 1 year and 5 months.

    So my question is:
    1) Is having an overdraft, for say, about 5 months prior to the visa application be worrisome and might be a reason for refusal?

    2) some people that I know are saying that I have to have no overdrafts in my account for 3 months or that my account should have at least £1500 - £2000 in my bank account t. Is this really true?

Would appreciate you lovely people’s advice on this! Very stressed about it!

    Kind regards.

    Hi bigmac,

    Thank you for the welcome.

I've been naturalized as a British citizen last 2013.

    Another question is:

    3) Does my fiance need 50,000 pesos or something like that in his bank account? Just to make sure that the visa gets approved faster?

No your fiancé don't need to show any penny in his account to get the visa, even if he does, it doesn't make his application faster at all. It's all about the sponsor, you, to prove that you meet the financial requirement not the applicant.

ok--so long as you have met or exceeded the earnings requirement for the period in which category you are applying as sponsor,--then your bank a/c balance is not relevant--provided it shows your salary paid in during the same period.

    ignore so-called advice and rumours.

ha ha--no!. his bank balance has no relevance. he can apply for priority service if he wants to waste £500.

Sorry guys, I have another query which is a bit complicated...

I am living with my parents at the moment in a 3 bedroom semi-detached house. However, the issue is that they are just renting the house.

What requirements should I provide for the accomodation?

Hope you guys can help me with this again!

    Many thanks

quite frankly--the hard part for many sponsors is meeting the financial requirement.

    also--having suitable accommodation.

the rest is easy--so long as the applicant can prove you have met in person and can show evidence of a genuine and on going relationship.

is it possible for you to rent a place for yourself?

I guess I could but it's more expense!

I could ask the landlord if he could switch my mum's name to my name in the tenancy agreement, though. Can that be also an option?

as its a shared place you will need written permission from the landlord for both you and your fiance to lawfully occupy it---so probably will have to be added to the tenancy agreement. how long is the tenancy for ? needs to have at least 6 months to run at the time of the application. you need to show proof of this.

also--as its a shared house--a survey to show there is no overcrowding.

    Thanks bigmac.

As I am living with my family, is it still going to be considered as a shared house?

this is why i suggested a place of your own--simpler.

Or possibly find a friend or other relative who owns their house (with a spare room) and is happy to accommodate you, or is willing to be "prepared" to accommodate you...

    Hi guys,

Do I need to send the original tenancy agreement or is a copy fine?
