    Hi,

I did employ a specialist UK Immigration Firm, but in fact they were incompetent and made many mistakes, I ended up doing the application Myself as it really was not difficult. Plus I picked up lots of info from here.

What did they need from the Non British Applicant they want the English Test Certificate, TB Test Result, copy of passport, copies of any visas used to visit you, Copies of tickets and boarding passes used to visit you, 2 UK size Passport Photos, last 6 month wage slips (if any), last 6 months bank statements (if any), employment contract (if any), letter from accountant (if self employed), Proof of tax paid (if any), proof of savings and assets (if any), proof of communication(emails, telephone bills, skype chat, facebook messages, calling card top ups, text message records, any other relevant supporting documents.

    from you the Sponsor

Copies of Passport, copies of Visa's obtained when visiting your Fiance, copies of tickets and boarding passes, copies of hotel bills,

now the following must be originals 6 months bank statements, 6 months wage slips, P60 or employment contract, letter from accountant if self employed, proof of tax paid if self employed, proof of accomodation (land registry/mortgage statement/tenancy agreement), proof of savings (bank statement or savings investments), 2 proof of address (utility bill/council tax bill), Letter confirming your relationship and how you met, proof of communication(emails, telephone bills, skype chat, facebook messages, calling card top ups, text message records, photos of holidays together before the wedding, 2 testimonials from friends or family, proof of money sent to your fiance by you, confirmation of hotel/church/register office bookings for proposed wedding, bills, receipts, invoices from hotels, restaurants confirming your proposed wedding, statutory declaration or sponsorship undertaking

    not much is it LOL!

In answer to the original question, Corina and I "took it to the wire" and married a few days before her visa expired. We actually submitted the application for Further Leave to Remain two days before her visa expired.

We don't recommend this, of course, but it's possible...
