Anne, I hope you hang around BF for a while, I see you have lots of patience and you are well organised and up to speed with the current visa requirements, all good, very good.
Thanks for the compliment Timmers. You've also been a great help to us. I am returning the favor to new members here ;-)
I think that's great and very good of you, people really appreciate it when you help them, I know I did when I was putting the visa paperwork together. We all need a little help sometimes
I've done the same, the way I see it we just need to update the marriage side of things and update the finances and we should be there as we will still have all the documents from the Fiancée visa to re-submit. It is advisable to spend a little more money and apply in person for the FLR as you will get the visa extension the same day and then you will be able to apply for a National Insurance number which will entitle you to start work. If you apply for the FLR by post I am reliably informed by some of the knowledgeable people here at BF that it can take a few months, in which time you could have found a job and started to bring the money home. Happy times ahead for us, I'm sure of it
Great news, then you are almost guaranteed to find work, you will already know that we have many Filipinas here that are involved in the nursing profession. The money is quite good for nurses as you will already know. My future Mother in Law was a Head Nurse in Saudi for 30 years enabling her to put all the kids through a good University and to have a good lifestyle back in the Philippines. Nursing is a very highly respected job here in the UK, we all love nurses . I am surprised you're not in the Middle East nursing, I have met many there, in fact I met the future Mrs Timmers in Dubai where she followed in her mothers footsteps and put her three daughters through University. I am just a humble Engineer who works with enormous gas compressors in the oil and gas industry, nothing good nothing bad, pays the bills
That's right! I once considered going to Middle East since I, myself have a lot of friends there. However, my grandma begged me not to. I'm still clueless up to this point why she won't let me go there. Being brought up to be obedient to my elders made me realize it's really not for me. You're an Engineer too! You have the same profession as my fiance. He works with CNC, an ECE equivalent here in the Philippines. So it's true then that Nurses are for Engineers!
Engineers and Nurses, never heard that one before, think we always say nurses for doctors here. Well, I think you're one Filipina nurse heading to a hospital in the UK
Its true. I have seen many who did that to save money (and why not) but have suffered because the UKBA dragged their feet in awarding FLR. We are talking about almost a year in a couple of cases and they could not work for that time frame. So.... well worth paying out the extra as Timmers says.
I sure hope so. Well the "Nurses are for Engineers" can usually be seen on statement shirts students wear here..
The way I see it, you have no choice but to pay the extra, doesn't make any financial sense to do otherwise.
I know some who went the budget route did so without realising the consequences and also because they couldn't really afford the outlay at that time. But I agree, if you can afford it then yes, it would be daft not to.
I know people here who qualified as nurses in Philippines. The qualification is no good here, so they mainly work as care workers. That's what I've been told anyway. It's very difficult to translate a career from Philippines to the UK.
I'm surprised, I thought nurses in the Philippines gained a degree there (I know the future Mother in Law had BSC) that's why the Philippines was targeted by the British NHS twenty years back when they wanted to recruit more nurses. I know recently that there has been talk here about nurses here having to gain a nursing degree instead of taking the regular nursing training. Maybe some nurses from the Philippines don't have qualifications recognised by the British government, I don't know, someone will enlighten us I'm sure
