Filipina Scammer: Helena Pedroche (claims to be the illegitimate daughter of Ferdinand Marcos)

The OP, whoever he or she is, has not posted any "innocent victim" tales of their own personal loss due to this lady, something that does not seem quite right to me, especially as there are still ongoing disputes.

Wherever there are victims there are also those who choose to use the situation for their own personal benefit, I hope that the OP will clarify what his / her position is..

Balita Pinoy, along with the BBC and ABS-CBN have been investigating this woman's activities for several years.

Comments made by people on this forum re how people get scammed applies worldwide, not just to Filipinos; Helena ????? has scammed others not just her own people. Several traders at Billingsgate Market can attest to this.

Contacting the Balita Pinoy guys above seems a far better move than setting out to discredit Helena by seeding the internet with unqualified forum postings.

For obvious reasons, I am not going to post my identity on this forum as I want to protect myself from further mischief from this woman or from other potential scammers.

Realized that I have not asked anybody in here to contact me directly about this matter. I simply posted a couple of newslink and audio interview of this woman to inform the members on this forum, who happens to be majority Filipinos. Reading an article is one thing, but I posted the audio interview so members in here can also learn and distinguish her voice in case they encounter her in the future.

Surprisingly, many of the members in here is only hearing this news for the very first time. So obviously, notifying Balita Pinoy was not enough; otherwise, members in the forum would've already known about this woman since Balita Pinoy have been writing articles about her for the past couple of years.

I am one of the many victims that was given fake airlines tickets by this woman. If that's not credible enough for you, then hopefully you'll at least acknowledge the victims featured in the BBC 4 interview with John Waite. That itself should be more than enough reason to address this matter in the British Filipino community.

There are a few troubling aspects. Firstly a search for this lady reveals little - messages posted on this Forum, a number of mentions on Balita Pinoy's web site and the transcript of John Waite's programme about her. For someone who's caused as much trouble as she has, is know to have passed herself off as a Marcos and has made court appearances, I'm surprised by the lack of media coverage.

Helena Skeggs appears to have used three means to get money from people - classic 'Lads from Lagos' 419 scams, getting people to invest in opportunities that don't exist and selling but not delivering goods and services: these are all matters the Police should be investigating but they don't seem to be. The original poster claims to be a victim of Skeggs' fake travel agency - has he/she reported this to the Police? Has Balita Pinoy cooperated with the Police and passed information about this woman's criminality or has it simply sought to publicise Skeggs' activities?

If the Ofcom investigation into complaints arising out of the original ABS-CBN investigation aired on the Filipino Channel in the UK is genuine (and I've no reason to suppose it's not), then Mr Skeggs is implicated as well - a number of cheques he's issued to repay their debts have bounced.

While I have reported it to the police, I have very little faith in the police's ability to solve this fraud at this time. And that's the reason I am being proactive in spreading the news and urging the general public to contact the authority with any information they may have about an ongoing scam of Helena Pedroche. Hopefully, with more leads obtained by the police, the easier it will be for them to catch her.

Two weeks ago I saw an idiot sitting on the pavement outside a flight booking agent in Phnom Penh, he had a big sign around his neck saying "Air XXXX = Ripoff merchants" (or similar).

He was still there two hours later, sitting in the heat with his hat pulled down over his face, he looked a total pillock.

I have no idea what his complaint was, he did not present his case, the locals ignored him and foreigners laughed at him.

Why not present your case, tell us what happened to you.

well I just put her name in and up it came. If you put british-filipino in, the thread doesn't even feature.

Just read some of the stories and I see lots of documents accusing Marcos but I don't see anything official from the authorities that substantiates any of the accusations. Why are the British transport police involved and not CID? The information isnt very widespread as in on many websites. Its not a witch hunt is it?

I think it serves no purpose personally. Balta suggests its to make people on here aware but for me it serves no purpose here.
