To be honest Ryan it will not be easy to find a single Filipina in the UK, in general they are happy to stay at home and do not generally socialise outside their family circle, having said that it is by no means impossible. There are a few Filipinas that are single who frequent this site but I believe they are all located in the Philippines.

There is certainly no harm in looking around this forum and others, you never your luck but as mentioned by other members the only certain way of meeting our beloved Filipinas is to visit the Philippines.

    Good luck :)

    Hi Ryan,

I'll tell you how I met my wife. (Sounds like an idea for a TV show)

I signed up for AsianDating.Com although there are dozens similar. On this site, you need to pay to exchange messages. I have to confess that having just broken up with a Spanish girl, I was 'just browsing'. There are thousands of profiles of single women to view. You can 'Add to favourites' or 'show interest', but every time you try to send a message to one, only the first word shows up, and the rest is blurred out - unless you have paid.

And so, I changed my profile story to say that I could often be found in the evening, updating my status on Facebook. I also put my full name into the profile. Then I sent 'fb me' as a message to a few girls. Just that. Nothing else.

One figured it out. Well actually two, but the other one was a bit strange.

We began to chat on facebook, via the messenger app. Gradually I came to realise that I wanted to spend my life with this woman. For some crazy reason, she felt the same way, despite there being several dubious photos and postings on my facebook page.

Ryan, I saved, I begged and I borrowed. I traveled for forty hours in each direction to see this woman for a 6-day holiday, and at the end of it, we exchanged some really cheap silver rings. She promised to wait for me and I promised to come back and marry her. We were married in December 2014, using the same cheap, silver rings that were by now to us, priceless. Although it takes a great deal of determination and patience in trying to get her to Spain (still trying!), I wouldn't have done it differently if I had known what a struggle would follow.

If you expect your wife to knock on your door and ask for your hand in marriage, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it doesn't work that way. There is indeed a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It's just that the end of the rainbow is 7500 miles away, and you will need a couple of grand put by to go and find it. But if you save steadily, by the time you find 'The One', and have built up a deep knowledge, understanding and love for one another, you will have enough saved. Then the fun starts.

I apologise if you think we were being flippant. it's just that you didn't seem to be committed enough to make such an effort. Or that's the way I perceived it.

Yes. They tend to be either (a) nurses (b) divorcees (c) domestic servants of Arab diplomats.

you can use the search/location function of that site, which I have used to meet around 4-500 women in the Philippines over the past 12 years, to meet Filipinas in the UK too. If you want to!

here is the search results, for London (you can try provincial cities too) :

    https://www.dateinasia.com/Search.aspx?g=2&af=18&at=80&c=GB&ci=London &p=1&o=0&s=1

you have to sift through them to figure out where they are actually from, but there are more Chinese, than anybody else. #2 is Filipinas. #3 is Thais.

if they say on their profiles that they are 'Christian/Catholic' then that means they are probably Filipino, but beware. They could be Indonesian.

but on balance you are better off looking up nursing homes in the Yellow Pages, printing flyers in Tagalog saying that you are selling a lot of Filipino goods like Balut, litre bottles of Red Horse, and Chicharon, renting a Hall somewhere, and seeing what happens. About 300 people will probably turn up.

Ha ha ha - a Filiipino acquaintance of mine here does that! Actually organises parties, at which he pretends to be a bakla.

is it legal to import balut here to the UK?

a couple of times I ran the gauntlet and smuggled some into KL/Malaysia and distributed it among Filipinos there. I had a backup plan to plead ignorance if I was stopped by customs. I would have tried to make out that I was duped by a sinister Filipino balut-smuggling cartel.

I have never tried! But I can lay my hands on Red Horse, Emperador*, San Mig Light, three flavours of bagong and any amount of dried fish!

I presume that it would be a simple matter to make one's own balut by the simple expedient of keeping ducks!

*Emperador own Whyte and Mackay, the Scotch Whisky distillers, whom they bought to gain access to their distribution network...

maybe, but it is not so easy keeping ducks if you live in a big city like Kuala Lumpur. And also you just know that if it isn't a Filipino duck, they'll claim that it doesn't taste the same.

So.. please don't be offended by this - but by my reckoning that works out to between 8-10 women a month if you made 4 month trips every year for the past 12 years.

I admit to being curious about your modus operandi so I dug around a bit on the internet to see what I could find. I did find a post that I believe was yours where you mentioned that it was possible to have:

'a long interviewee in a room that you paid 700 peso for, and then go outside and do a short 3 hour interview in a hotel around the corner while the long interviewee is in the room doing the laundry."

I know this is none of my business and I'm really not trying to or attempting to pass judgement - and this might not even be you who wrote it - but is that right? I admit to being just curious here.

Although he was using his "Udonthani" nom de guerre at the time, it certainly is the very same Mr Whippy/Whipster. He was banned (again) from LinC a few hours after posting that message. You can read about which appears later in the same thread as his message you quoted from.

Yeah I think we are both old enough and ugly enough to know that Keith :) What I was really curious about was the 'interviewee' part.

Yeah I know that too. Whilst I don't want to reach for my blood pressure medication either, I just wanted to understand what was going on there.
