Most of what I read relates to English men looking for Filipinas, but I am an English lady who would like to meet a Filipino. I just love the culture but everything seems geared up for the other way round.

    Firstly, welcome EnglishRose :welcome:

I guess you've not yet visited the Philippines but have seen documentaries on TV or read about the country?

    Hi englishrose and :welcome: here.

My wife is a Filipina and she is very loving and caring.
I think it only fair to say that men from the Philippines (Filipinos) would be the same, although I have no first hand experience of this for obvious reasons. My wife has intimated this to me.
I hope you find what you are looking for but there is no better way than to visit the Philippines many times to see if you find true love.
Many men here are very happy with their Filipina partners.

Thanks for your reply. I had a Filipino friend but sadly he died. I am no spring chicken - I have my bus pass, which makes it even harder to find someone.

Welcome English rose, sorry to hear about your loss.

If you have the means to visit the Philippines I suggest you go ahead and book a flight, I am sure you will not be disappointed, a little research goes a long way.

Good luck young lady and remember we are here to help if you need any advice on anything relating to the Philippines, please don't be afraid to ask. :)

Love is not only for the young englishrose.
Just an idea..."Love In The Time of Cholera" by my favourite author Gabriel Garcias Marquez highlights this.

Thanks but I'm not planning a long term relationship as I would not be in a position to bring the man here, and I'm not going to live in the Philippines.

    Welcome englishrose, 'Rose'? :welcome:

You've been looking a long time, I think you joined the other place around about the same time as me, at least back in 2009 :)

Good to see you here, I'm guessing you are mid sixties now, I hope you find a nice kind Filipino man in the UK, it is not impossible.

Hi! Back there I was friends with a Filipino man who I'd met when he came over here when his wife died. Sadly he recently died and English men just aren't the same!

I'd have to agree but the opposite sex of course. That being that English women aren't the same as filipinas :)

    Sorry to here that Rose.

Well it's nicer here on British Filipino, than on the other channel, but I'm not sure if we have any older Filipino gentlemen here?

Many Filipino men are chauvinistic, however the one's that are not rich often treat women properly as equals and can be very nice and truly generous people, wealth seems to spoil them easily, just an observation and I don't want to create stereotypes, I may well be wrong in that assessment.

I saw it more as a genuine belief that women were weak and should be protected. The war changed a lot for women here because they were able to show they could do any job a man could do. We went through a big cultural change in the 60s too.

I hope my comment about English men not being the same as Filipinos didn't offend anyone. It's just a fact that the culture is so different. There are pros and cons on both sides.

I doubt any of the chaps on here would be offended with the statement and of course pros and cons either way. A very valid point regarding the war too. I guess we have an affiliation with Filipinos/Filipinas and for me personally I'd consciously never date a western lady again, if I were single of course.

Nah I'm Scottish and one of the better ones ;)

Can't say that all my fellow Scots make me proud to be a Scot, some do, some don't.

Ironically, I do remember a certain chap held in the highest esteem, on the other channel, doing our British ladies down. However I couldnt help but wonder if he ever put that point across to his sister(s), mother, possibly daughter etc etc.

I do see the great merits in marrying a Filipina but our British lasses arent all so bad. Ex wife not included. :D

Problem I foresee for a western woman looking for a Filipino man is the height thing. My ex wife is 5ft 9 for example. That kind of height in a woman might rule out a Filipino as a mate :D
