    Ah, that sounds more believable now: ICU and dialysis are not cheap. This sounds like either Davao Doctors or the Brokenshire (which is part of an American medical mission of the same name), both have ICU and renal clinics. There are are other hospitals both private and state-run but only these two have all the facilities you mention.

    There is a tendency for hospitals to 'over-treat' since every investigation, procedure and visit by a nurse or doctor is chargeable and hospitals are in business to make money; patient care is a secondary consideration. Bill-padding is the norm.

    My father in law is on dialysis twice a week and it costs about 16,000 pesos a month.

    Think the OP might need to find out whether we are talking pounds or pesos for the figure.
