I'm travelling to Manila in December for a month with my 2 teenage daughters. I want to find a clean self-catering type hotel room. But on a budget!

Can anyone please give me suggestions?

not self catering, but you can try Go Hotel. Still cheaper than renting a self-catering place.

For a month? Try and rent a condo instead of a hotel, it would be cheaper than any budget hotel and you can usually get them in really modern areas with tons of security (so no need to worry).

Rent an apartment from Pearls Lettings. I've done it every time and they are always decent places.

Good, reliable company and not so expensive.

South of Market (SOMA) is a good location.

We've stayed in this one - two adults and two kids. Loads of room. http://www.pearlslettingagency.com/#/soma-2404-3b-sleeps-6/4554197012

It's easy walking distance to shopping malls, restaurants etc so very convenient for that. I'm getting all nostalgic just looking at the place!

There's some decent places at Cypress Towers. I stayed at one there with 3 bedrooms. You need to get a taxi to go to shopping malls if you stay there, although there are a few convenience shops nearby.

It's quite a bit cheaper than SOMA though.

It's 3 bedrooms. One of the rooms does have bunk beds, so not sure what a teenage daughter would say about that :)

Plus, they'll pick you up from the airport for 1000 pesos if you require it.

big difference between 35k a month and 75k ,im sure most people in manila would pick you up at airport for 1000 peso considering it only costs approx 200 -300 peso by taxi

Nice tip Maharg. We might consider it when we visit next year. I would like to go touring some of the other islands but the main thing will be for my wife to see her relatives. This would suit quite nicely.

There are much cheaper ones in SOMA, although they are 2 bedroom or studio. If they are happy with 2 bedrooms I'd personally go for that.

Yeah, you can get a taxi for cheaper but you might get ripped off or do the "can't find the location" journey for about an hour. I've done both and prefer the airport pick up. It's worth the extra for ease of getting there and checking in.

They are a good company and there's lots of places to choose from.
