The Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the South Humber area today. The moon is virtually at perigee and there is high tide around 7pm this evening. There is also a strong north westerly wind. Luckily there is no rain.

For where I live the advice is to board up...

There is actually more information available by automated phone query from the Environment Agency than there is on the Environment Agency website...

Our village was flooded. Every single bungalow on our small estate is unhabitable. Cars were littered around the village.

The Police rescued everyone except me even though I had flashing beacon. So I set off the PLB to summon the coastguard who called the Fire Brigade.

The next day i had to go to A&E and have a catheter fitted. May require surgical intervention rather soon.

    Moving to new hotel tomorrow.

    I am exhausted.

Sorry to hear about your news...Sounds like you and your neighbours have had a terrible week.. The most important thing is you are still able to post and probably will post again another day.

Sorry to hear your news Howerd. I actually have a few friends that work on or by the humber as pilots / harbor authority and some of the picture they posted of the docks etc it looked like it was getting pretty bad.

My wifes friend and her hubby were living just south of the Humber. They moved about 9 months ago. We visited and its very low laying, close to the Humber - just east of Barrow upon Humber. I will ask if they know if all is well there.

My friends live in patrington, between hull and spurn point. by all accounts they are 16m above sea level. One of the few villages round there that don't get affected by flooding

I used to work off there, catching our flight to the rig from Dumplington or was it Dimlington or maybe both. I think I used to drive through Patrington to get to the heli-terminal.

It's actually not a bad village (patrington). One of the nicer ones up there I think.

Luckily no human deaths. Chicken farm destroyed. A number of dead sheep.

Parish and County Councils have been marvellous. But Environment Agency severely under-estimated the danger.

Insurance company supplying caravan next week. Better than having to travel from hotel each day.

The road on Spurn Point was washed away. Emergency generators are now being used at the Coastguard station and coastguards have to travel to the Coastguard station by boat from Grimsby.
