Hi, A new Add-On has been added to the forum called Similar Threads. Creating a thread: If you select one of the forums you have the opportunity to create a thread (permissions applicable). When you start to create the thread we start by writing a thread title or subject. With the "similar threads" feature this will intuitively query the database as you type words into the title of the thread. This will allow you to immediately see if there has already been a similar thread posted, this is great to reducing duplicate posts when one user has not read previous content posted by another user. I for one am guilty of doing this Reading a thread: If you read a particular thread you will now see that the "similar threads" feature display, wait for it… similar threads immediately below the post you are reading. This gives rise to the possibility of a more fluid and intuitive experience when navigating between related posts. Hopefully you will be able to find the exact content you are looking for more quickly. Obviously "common" words are omitted from the "similar thread" process (eg: I, have, and, here, to, will, be, say, see, seen).
Worth noting that when creating a new thread only the titles of existing threads are queried. The normal forum search facility also searches the bodies of threads, unless the "Search titles only" box is ticked.
Indeed. It was suggested that when content is more readily available/applicable then users tend to browse the site for longer. The stats will eventually reveal if thats the case or not.
