It doesn't carry weight finacially, but it might with regards t proof of an ongoing relationship.

Personally, though, I'd never have a joint account with someone ntil you are living together and managing money together.

We opened an account for my wife's mum. A lot of Philippines Banks also have a minimum opening deposit which you're not allowed to drop below. So, effectively, they keep that money for themselves and are charging you for the privilege of opening a Bank Account.

BPI gives you an option.. You can have a 5k minimum balance or a zero minimum balance.. The only disadvantage of the latter choice is that they charge a few more Peso`s for ATM withdrawals.

No you can't transfer money that way, Philippine Banks have no concept of our Sort Codes and account numbers.

One of the ways (the main way) that interbank transfers are performed is the SWIFT network.

    https://transferwise.com/support/customer/portal/articles/1663580-what-are-swift-payments-

That link is just a general link Tranferwise are not required to do SWIFT payments, SWIFT is independent of any specific money transfer company.

Depending on your own circumstance, you can either try to do interbank SWIFT payments via your own existing UK bank, or you can try Western Union, WorldRemit, Azimo or Paypal or any of many other companies.

All allow international transfers with varying limits on how much you can send.

Ohh yess Oss,, just found out SORT CODE is only here in UK, i used SWIFT code if internation transfer of the bank here in the UK to the Philippines,, so Terrible.. It cost a lot than using Moneygram, so we stuck sending tru moneygram than International trasfer using SWIFT CODE, Moneygram is Cheaper than doing that International transfer Bank to Bank,,
