    Hi,

Just posted my first question in another forum but thought I'd introduce myself or rather ourselves.

My wife and I have been married for over 12 years, she is originally from Cebu.

Our dream retirement is to be able to live between the UK and the Philippines.

We have a house in the UK that we'll probably sell when we do retire and buy a flat instead to live when in the UK. We already have a condo in Cebu City and hope to build a small house in her hometown along with her brothers and sister on their ancestral land.

I'm really into the idea of being able to build a modular house of some sort that's designed to cool itself and be energy efficient. I like to research what's feasible and available but have to keep reminding myself that when I do come to retire, it might be all different so I'm just wasting my time! That said, I'm sure so many folks have these bright ideas but end up with the traditional concrete plan, time will tell.

    :welcome: Bongle ;).
You seem to be in good financial shape :like:

You'll have to be if the UK/Philippines flight costs don't come down
Where is your wife from in Cebu?
My wife is from the province - the north tip of Cebu Island.

    Thanks for your reply.

We haven't reached the 'dream' of retiring while being able to go back and forth each year yet!
A loooong way to go and who knows what happens then? You can only hope for the best but plan for the worst.

You're right about the flights, the first time I flew to Philippines in November 2013 (bad time especially for Tacloban) I think it only cost me about £390 although that was a very good deal at the time, just a fraction of what it costs now. I don't expect it to come down by much nowadays. This is the new normal unfortunately although I hope I'm wrong. I think future pasalubongs will be spent on the flights!

My wife is from the southern part of Cebu Island but her family also live in Cebu City.
