Good afternoon everyone Would just like to introduce myself here...my name is Lee, living near York and I am in a relationship with a lovely lady by the name of Grace who is currently living and working in Morocco where I have just returned from visiting her and as we are serious about each other and for our relationship to develop further we would like to be together here in the UK...am I correct in saying that for a partner visa under the new rules my annual salary would have to be over £18,600? I am just under this threshold. Any advice from you more experienced guys here would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Hello Lee and welcome Yes there are new and rather strictly applied financial requirements. In principle you would need to have a gross income of £18600 pa and you would need to show evidence of this for the previous 6 months. If you are short on this and a change of job is not likely then you could consider additional part-time employment. Or even making up any shortfall with the equivalent amount in savings above £16000 There are a lot of legal challenges ahead and personally it's difficult to see how these new rules might survive. The problem is guessing just how much time it will take to implement any changes from court rulings. Don't consider making any visa application if you cannot meet the financial reuirement.
Hi Lee and welcome to the forum. And sorry to hear you fall under the minimum salary for visas. I too fall just below it but due to bonuses I clear the threshold, had I not then I would have gotten a job say on Sundays to cover the difference. And also like you I think these new rules are grossly unfair as well..
