This week my step daughter submitted online application for grandson's settlement visa. The payment was done by using my visa card.

I was under the impression that she does not have to pay for Health charges as son is only 4 years old but its seems that over £600 has been take for same from my bank account.

When she went to VFS in Manila on Friday she mentioned that she had been charged and all they could tell her that without the HSC reference number the application would not have gone through.

Can any members give answers as I feel these charges shold not apply to a chld of 4 who in joining his mother on a child settlement visa.

I'm afraid any non EU citizen coming to the UK for longer than six months needs to pay the NHS surcharge, there are exceptions but not in your case.

No IHS number no visa, that's the way it is unfortunately.

In my opinion £600 for free healthcare is a very good deal indeed :)

To be honest, I'd say a child of 4 is more likely to use the nhs than a healthy young adult.
