Hello Jim and welcome, I think everyone here at BF who has successfully applied and had the visa granted started off by feeling exactly the way you are feeling now. Study the Forums here regarding applying for a Spouse/Fiancée visa and slowly but surely the pieces of the jigsaw will come together.
