    Hello People.

My name is Paul and I'm from East London.. been married to a beautiful Filipina for 2 months now and we're expecting a baby. This will be my first child and her second since she as a 15 year old son from a previous marriage.

My wife is currently living in Calauag, Quezon Province, normally stays in Pasig area for job purposes. Hopefully after the baby is born I will be able bring both my wife and baby over to UK to live.

When it is time to bring your wife and child here then there is plenty of information here regarding the UK settlement visa application and much more.

That's the reason why I decided to join this forum, All this immigration stuff worries me. I know you need a certain amount of earnings and some savings in your account to be able to bring spouse and child over to the UK. Anyway I guess I leave that in the relevant thread.

You will be able to get your child a UK passport since he/she will be a British by descent.

Your wife and step-son though would both need settlement visas. You will need to be earning 21,500 GBP a year I believe in order to apply for the their visas.

£22,400 is the earning requirement, spouse + one child

Note that you do not need any savings in the bank to apply for the visa, there are consolations in life :)

It is true that you do not need any savings, the UKVI will establish that you can support your family by the financial information you have to submit for the visa. Amongst other things you will have to submit payslips, bank statements, letter from employer and P60 as part of the evidence that you meet the financial requirement.

Don't worry about the visa for now, I submitted the link regarding obtaining the visa just to get you thinking and to pre warn you as to what to expect.

It may look daunting now but it does get easier as time goes by, I'm sure the others here will agree.

Thanks for all the information. Yes it is very daunting, I hate the fact I'm alone here in UK while my pregnant wife is in Philippines.
Hopefully I get everything sorted after the baby is born, Due Date Feb 2016:)

I'm sure that if you read up on the application process and put a few things in place before the birth then both yourself and your wife will feel a lot better about your future together.

It isn't difficult to get the visa as long as you have an eye for detail and give the UKVI exactly what they ask for, and more. You will notice in the months to come that we at British Filipino take the option of supplying more information than is asked for, its only natural I think.

Thank you. I'm sure it will get easier over time. Sorting the marriage was a painful task, so I hope it gets easier in due course.

Anyway I would like to share my experience with emirate airlines.

I had appointment for affidavit booked for April 30th 2015 with the British Embassy in Manila. Wedding was scheduled for May 16th in Calauag so anyway by flight with Emirates from Heathrow April 29th was delayed by 3 hours and I missed my connecting flight from Dubai which was due to arrive in Manila Wednesday 29th at 21-50pm Philippines time and my appointment with the embassy was Thursday at 11-30 am.

So anyway Emirates transfer me to another flight 3 hours later, then I get an email from emirates that my next flight will be the following Thursday and they booked me into a hotel, and that I will arrive in Philippines Friday night, meaning I will had missed my appointment for Thursday morning at the embassy. I panicked and tried to book a new appointment with the embassy with no avail. I text my wife and she was crying and stressing out. Luckily she called emirates with a sob story that we have an appointment with the British embassy and that we also need to sort the marriage license. Eventually they got me on a new flight with Philippine Airlines and landed Thursday morning just after 9am with only 2 hours to get to the embassy.

I don't think I use emirates ever again after that bad experience. Qatar or Cathay for me next time.

I used Emirates in 2011. Great flight. But there was a problem relating to the booking, initially. I found customer services to be poor.

Hey Paul :welcome:, hope your Mrs. is getting on well, with her pregnancy and praying for no morning sickness for her. xx
I do love emirates before.... but now i just prefer Phil Airlines since its direct flight.
i just want to be in one plane no transferring, im not good at dealing with connecting flights.

Customer service was very sympathetic towards my wife, but I still won't use them again, plus the food served on the flight is atrocious.
I have used Qatar and Cathay previously and they're a better service.
