Depends on you and your circumstances. There are advantages and disadvantages compared with a spouse visa route.

    In a nutshell :

Spouse visa is where you are already married and your wife applies for a visa to settle with you, a Brit, in the UK.

Fiance visa is where your fiance applies for a visa to enable her to enter the UK with a view to marrying you in the UK, within 6 months of entry, with a further view to settling with you, a Brit, in the UK. .

The biggest difference between the two is that with a spouse visa your wife can start work immediately on entering the UK, after she has applied and got the NI number of course. With the Fiancé visa she would have to wait until the first FLR before she can apply for a NI number.

hi there, i just want to share my application. As i filled up the form in the in the UKVI site for the appointment it called Marriage Settlement Visa. And when it approved the visa attached in my passport is "Visa Marriage/....(name of my fiance)",,,,
A bit confusing right?, im looking for a "fiancee visa" in the choices but there isnt, instead a marriage settlement visa, so i just choose that since thats the nearest possible that fit in my application. just make sure your in a right track. That is also makes me Confused when i fill up the form. :D:D:D
in my Entry at Heathrow Airport as they checked my passport they asked "are you getting married with ...(name of my fiancee),, are you sure with him?" Since i look nervous he just say "am i invited?" And he laugh "congratulations, ill wait for my invitation card" Thats crazy, he makes fun of me, maybe he observed im a bit tense and nervous when i gave my passport. Hehehehehe...
So i realize, When people saw my passport they know my Entry is that im getting Married....:p

It is a marriage settlement visa if you are entering the UK to get married, here at BF we tend to call them Fiancé visas because its easier than keep typing marriage settlement visa, sorry for the confusion :)
